    Take a road trip through the imposing mountains of the Spiti Valley and get a front row seat to view some of the most breathtaking landscapes in India. You'll be surrounded by barren mountains painted in shades of brown and grey, with snow-capped peaks towering as high as 14,500 feet above you.

    On this Spiti Valley road trip, you'll stay in tents pitched near the famed, crescent-shaped Chandratal Lake, visit the world's highest post office at Hikkim, explore one of Asia's highest inhabited villages at Kibber and Komic and try your hand at spotting fossils at Langza. En route, you'll also go on short treks to visit the lakes of Dhankar and Chandratal.

    Destination

    Spiti Valley, located in northern Himachal Pradesh, connects the neighbouring valleys of Lahaul and Tibet. With several important Buddhist monasteries spread all over the valley, it projects an interesting Indo-Tibetan culture. The small villages of the Spiti Valley, tucked away in the folds of imposing mountains, are brimming with hospitable people eager to showcase the beauty of Spiti to travellers from all over the world. Your journey begins in the lush, green valleys of Manali and takes you into the heart of Spiti where the landscape is barren and desolate.

    Travellers are required to adhere to the instructions of the tour guide during the road trip to Spiti Valley.

    Travellers are requested to treat the local culture with respect and avoid littering, defacing property and monuments and causing general disturbance.

    Consumption of alcohol and drugs is strictly prohibited during the trip.

    Cancellation policy

    For cancellations made 7 days or more before departure of the Spiti Valley road trip: 70% refund.

    For cancellations made 3-6 days before departure of the Spiti Valley road trip: 50% refund.

    For cancellations made 0-2 days before departure of the Spiti Valley road trip: No refund.

    No show: No refund.

    All refunds will be processed after deducting any transaction charges.

    Additional instructions, booking policies, terms and conditions

    During this road trip to Spiti Valley, travellers will visit destinations at altitudes from 9,000 ft to 14,500 ft and may experience altitude sickness.

    Spiti Valley is located at an altitude with no internet connectivity and moderate road access/availability of services. Travellers are advised to take such circumstances under consideration before booking the trip.

    The tour operator takes utmost care to ensure safety of the travellers and shall not be held responsible for any mishap, accident or loss of life during the trip.

    The tour operator reserves the right to change or cancel the itinerary of this trip due to bad weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances to ensure maximum safety of travellers and staff.

  • Day 1 of the Spiti Valley road trip: Manali to Kaza

    Arrive at the pick-up point on Manali's Mall Road by 05:00 hrs. Here, you'll board private, shared vehicles and begin your journey by travelling to Kaza, the capital of Spiti Valley. You'll drive across the Rohtang Pass, and cross a number of small river streams and rivulets. A small distance from the Rohtang Pass, the road forks with one heading to Ladakh and the other heading to Spiti. You'll take the one to Spiti and arrive at the town of Kaza by evening. Overnight at Kaza in hotel rooms.

    Day 2 of the Spiti Valley road trip: Kaza to Komic via Key, Kibber, Langza and Hikkim

    Continue your journey across the Spiti Valley. Today's destination is the small village of Komic, but your day begins with a short drive to the Key Monastery, one of the oldest and most famous Buddhist houses of worship in the Spiti Valley.

    En route to Komic, you'll also visit Kibber, one of the highest villages in Asia. You'll pass through the village of Tashigang where you can stop to view the Cho Cho Khang Niyta, the tallest mountain peak in the Spiti Valley. Continue onwards to Langza, the fossil village of India. Before arriving at Komic, you'll also visit Hikkim, home to the highest post office in the world. Overnight at Komic in monastery homestay.

    Day 3 of the Spiti Valley road trip: Komic to Mudh via Demul

    Today, you'll travel to Mudh, one of the few greener pastures in the stark landscape of Spiti. En route, you'll visit the picturesque village of Demul, famous for small handicrafts made by the locals. You'll arrive at Demul by evening. Overnight at Demul in homestay.

    Day 4 of the Spiti Valley road trip: Mudh to Dhankar

    Wake up early in the morning, today's destination is the village of Dhankar. Just a few hours of drive away from Mudh, Dhankar is famous for its centuries-old monastery and holy lake. After visiting the monastery, you'll embark on a 3-hr trek to the holy lake. Interested travellers can participate in the trek to visit the lake, while the rest of the group can explore the village.     Day 5 of the Spiti Valley road trip: Dhankar to Chandratal Lake via Lhalung

    Board your vehicles once again and travel to the famous, crescent-shaped Chandratal Lake. En route, you'll stop at the little-known village of Lhalung to visit it's monastery, believed to house a tree with magical, medicinal properties. You'll arrive at the campsite near the Chandratal Lake be evening, but you'll visit the lake tomorrow morning when the morning sun shines bright over its waters. Overnight at Chandratal campsite in tents.

    Day 6 of the Spiti Valley road trip: Chandratal Lake to Manali

    On the last day of the Spiti Valley road trip, you'll undertake a short 1-hr trek from the campsite to the Chandratal Lake. Spend some time at the lake and return back to the campsite to begin your return journey to Manali. You'll arrive at Manali by late afternoon. Your trip ends here.

    Day 2 of the Spiti Valley road trip: Kaza to Komic via Key, Kibber, Langza and Hikkim

    Overnight at Komic in monastery homestay.

    You'll travel to multiple famous landmarks around Kaza including Key, Kibber, Langza and Hikkim, before arriving at Komic. You'll be accommodated at the Komic monastery. Today's meal package includes breakfast at the hotel in Kaza, lunch at Langza and dinner upon arrival at Komic.

    Day 3 of the Spiti Valley road trip: Komic to Mudh via Demul

    Overnight at Mudh in homestay.

    You'll travel to the heart of Pin Parvati Valley to the village of Mudh and visit the handicrafts village of Demul, en route. You'll be accommodate at Mudh in a homestay. Today's meal package includes breakfast at Komic, lunch at Demul and dinner upon arrival at Mudh.

    Day 4 of the Spiti Valley road trip: Mudh to Dhankar

    Overnight at Dhankar in homestay.

    You'll travel to the village of Dhankar and embark on a short trek to the Dhankar Lake. You'll be accommodated at Dhankar in a homestay. Today's meal package includes breakfast at Mudh as well as lunch and dinner at Dhankar.

    Day 5 of the Spiti Valley road trip: Dhankar to Chandratal Lake via Lhalung

    Overnight at Chandratal in tents.

    You'll make a short pit stop at the village of Lhalung, before arriving at the Chandratal campsite. You'll be accommodated at Chandratal in tents, with bedding and mattresses inside tents for a restful night's sleep. Today's meal package includes breakfast at Dhankar, lunch at Batal and dinner upon arrival in Chandratal.

    Day 6 of the Spiti Valley road trip: Chandratal Lake to Manali

    Your trip ends before nightfall.

    Go on a short trek to visit the Chandratal Lake and travel back to Manali. No accommodation is provided today, since your trip ends before nightfall. Today's meal package includes only breakfast at Chandratal. En route, you'll stop at Marhi for lunch, at an additional cost.
