  • Trip introduction

    The Valley of Flowers trek is as close as humans can get to paradise in this lifetime. With dozens of new flowers blooming every day, the colours in the valley are always changing. You'll enjoy sweeping, panoramic views of the Garhwal Himalayan mountain range, and plenty of natural beauty all around. This trek also includes a hike to the sacred Hemkund Sahib gurudwara.

    This is a moderate trek and is great for both first timers as well as experienced trekkers, looking to visit the Valley of Flowers.

    Destination

    Located within the Nanda Devi National Park, the Valley of Flowers is a designated World Heritage Site that was discovered by accident as recently as 1931 by a team of British mountaineers. While it was hidden away for many years, the valley is now open between June to September. At an easily accessible altitude of 11,980 feet, the Valley of Flowers trek it is a favourite as it can be done by beginners too. During peak blooming season, over 300 species of wild flowers bloom here, including the elusive and rare Blue Poppy and Brahmakamal. Besides this, the valley is also home to animals such as the snow leopard and the Asiatic black bear, amongst others.

    Rules on the trip

    Trekkers are expected to maintain cleanliness at the campsites and throughout the Valley of Flowers trek. Please do not litter around and if possible, collect garbage on the way and dispose it off at proper sites.

    Please do not disturb fellow trekkers during the trek to Valley of Flowers.

    The trek leader's decision is final during the Valley of Flowers trek.

    There is a strict rule against alcohol and drugs during the Valley of Flowers trek. Trekkers will be expected to follow it.

    Cancellation policy

    For cancellations made 30 days or more before departure of the Valley of Flowers trek: 90% of trek cost will be refunded, minus any transaction charges.

    For cancellations made 21-30 days prior to departure of the Valley of Flowers trek: 60% of trek cost will be refunded, minus any transaction charges.

    For cancellations made 20-11 days prior to departure of the Valley of Flowers trek: 30% of trek cost will be refunded, minus any transaction charges.

    For cancellations made 0-10 days prior to departure of the Valley of Flowers trek: No refund.

    No show and changes/cancellation on the Valley of Flowers trek due to bad weather or natural calamity will be non-refundable.

    Additional instructions, booking policies, terms and conditions

    Any additional costs due to weather/unforeseen situations during the trek to Valley of Flowers, will have to be borne by the traveller.

    The team reserves the right to change the plan in case there is danger involved for the group or whenever the trek leader deem it necessary.

    Any changes/cancellation on the Valley of Flowers trek due to bad weather or natural calamity will be non-refundable.

    It is recommended that you avoid planning any onward journeys from Haridwar on the same day as your return.

  • Day 1 of the Valley of Flowers trek - Haridwar to Joshimath

    Participants depart from Haridwar in a SUV and drive up to Joshimath. The drive covers a distance of 275 kms, and takes about 9 to 10 hours. Though long, the drive is a scenic one as you pass through the holy towns of Devprayag, Rudraprayag, Karnprayag, and more. You'll arrive in Joshimath by evening and will check into a hotel here. Dinner is served at the hotel.

    Day 2 of the Valley of Flowers trek - Drive to Govindgat, trek to Ghangaria

    Today you'll eat breakfast at the hotel, and then set off on a 1 hour drive to Govindgat. Once you get here, your trek begins. It's a gradual ascent to Ghangaria, and will take about 4 hours. It's a well maintained trail with beautiful mountain vistas. You'll check into a hotel in Ghangaria, and can go exploring this small town in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay in the hotel.

    Day 3 of the Valley of Flowers trek - Trek to Valley of Flowers

    Today the real fun begins! You'll eat breakfast and then set off to explore the Valley of Flowers. You'll see unmatched views of rolling slopes covered with a variety of alpine flowers. Look out for fragrant wild roses or tiny wild strawberries. You'll be accompanied by a professional local guide who provides insights into the history of the valley as well as information about the types of flora and fauna of the region. You will see many waterfalls and streams here. You'll return to your hotel in Ghangaria in the evening. Overnight in Ghangaria.

    Day 4 of the Valley of Flowers trek - Hemkund Sahib

    Today you will eat breakfast and then head off towards Hemkund Sahib. The trek is lovely, and you'll enjoy the views, but it is a steep climb. The gurudwara is a sacred pilgrimage for the Sikh community, and you'll see many devotees along the route. The gurudwara lies on the banks of an ice-cold lake with views of mountains all around. You'll spend some time here, and then trek back to Ghangaria. Overnight in hotel.

    Day 5 of the Valley of Flowers trek - Return to Joshimath

    After breakfast, you'll check out from the hotel and begin the return trek to Govindghat. It's about 4 hours, and you'll say goodbye to the Valley of Flowers as you go. Vehicles are waiting to take you back to Joshimath. It's a one hour drive to your hotel. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel.

    Day 6 of the Valley of Flowers trek - Return to Haridwar

    Today you will be driven to Haridwar. It's a long and scenic drive that gives you a chance to rest your legs after days of trekking. Trip ends in Haridwar.

    Today you'll trek back to Govindghat and board vehicles to take you to Joshimath. You'll check into your hotel here, in twin-sharing rooms with attached washrooms. Today's package includes breakfast and lunch. You'll choose and pay for your own dinner, and spend the night in the hotel.

    Day 6 of the Valley of Flowers trek - Return to Haridwar

    Trip ends before nightfall

    Today you'll check out from the hotel in Joshimath and will be driven to Haridwar. You'll arrive in Haridwar by late evening. No meals are included in today's package, but you'll be able to choose and pay for your own meals. The trip ends in Haridwar and you are free to proceed on your journey.
