From cold rivers that turn into gushing waterfalls to snow clad mountains that touch the sky, this expedition through Spiti Valley is guaranteed to give you plenty of memorable experiences.

    Located deep in the Indian Himalayas of north-eastern Himachal Pradesh, the Spiti Valley sits at the intersection of India and Tibet. Rife with the rich Indo-Tibetan culture, the valley is home to historic monasteries that are renowned houses of worship for Buddhists all around the world.

    During this road trip, you will embark on an itinerary that combines sightseeing trips to such monasteries and exciting local destinations with a journey through the stark and imposing landscapes of Spiti. You will travel through high-altitude mountain passes offering breathtaking views to explore quaint villages brimming with local tradition and hospitality.

    Travellers are required to adhere to the instructions of the tour guide during the 8-day tour of Spiti Valley.

    Consumption of alcohol and narcotics is strictly prohibited during or before the trip.

    Travellers are requested to treat local cultures, traditions and monuments with respect.

    Cancellations made more than 45 days before departure of the Spiti Valley jeep safari: 90% refund.

    Cancellations made between 16 to 45 days before departure of the Spiti Valley jeep safari: 80% refund.

    Cancellations made between 8 to 15 days before departure of the Spiti Valley jeep safari: 75% refund.

    Cancellations made between 4 to 7 days before departure of the Spiti Valley jeep safari: 50% refund.

    Cancellations made less than 4 days before departure of the Spiti Valley jeep safari: No refund.

    Additional instructions, booking policies, terms and conditions

    During this 8-day tour of Spiti Valley, travellers will visit destinations at altitudes from 9,000 ft to 14,500 ft and may experience altitude sickness. Travellers are required to obtain documented doctor's clearance for travel in such high altitude areas.

    The Spiti Valley is located at an altitude with no internet connectivity and moderate road access/availability of services. Travellers are advised to take such circumstances under consideration before booking the trip.

    The tour operator takes utmost care to ensure safety of the travellers and shall not be held responsible for any mishap, accident or loss of life during the trip.

    The tour operator reserves the right to change or cancel the itinerary of this trip due to bad weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances to ensure maximum safety of travellers and staff.

  • Day 1 of the Spiti jeep safari: Arrive in Manali

    Arrive in Manali and check into a hotel or guesthouse. You will spend the day in Manali to acclimatize to higher altitude. Make sure to keep yourself hydrated, eat regular meals and take short walks. You can visit the marketplace at Manali to pick up any last minute essentials or take a walk through Old Manali's cafes and restaurants. Overnight at Manali in hotel or guesthouse.

    Day 2 of the Spiti jeep safari: Manali to Kaza

    Today, you will leave for Kaza, district headquarters of Spiti Valley, via the Rohtang Pass. Get an early start on the day and begin a 10-hr drive to Kaza. En route, you can stop at Rohtang Pass or Chatru and will pass several waterfalls and river streams. You will also stop at Kunzum Pass to pay your respects to the Kunzum Devi. Reach Kaza by evening. Overnight in a home stay.

    Day 3 of the Spiti jeep safari: Day trip to Key and Kibber

    Wake up at leisure and enjoy a lazy breakfast at the home stay. Today, you will explore the town of Kaza by taking a walk to the Spiti River and enjoying a packed picnic lunch on the banks of the river. You will also drive to the Key Monastery that sits on top of a hill overlooking the Spiti Valley. Known as the learning centre for monks following the Geluk sect of Buddhism, the monastery houses more than 100 monks. Continue onward to visit the Kibber village, one of the highest inhabited villages in the world. Return back to Kaza by late evening. Overnight at Kaza in home stay.

    Day 4 of the Spiti jeep safari: Day trip to Dhankar and Tabo

    Begin today's adventure with a drive to Dhankar. Here, you will visit the 1,000-year old Dhankar Monastery that overlooks the confluence of Spiti and Pin rivers. You can also embark an a short optional trek to the Dhankar Lake. Continue onwards towards Tabo to visit the historic Tabo Monastery, also known as the 'Ajanta of the Himalayas'. The murals and paintings at the monastery are said to have been created in a single night. You can also take a hike to the mediation caves near Tabo monastery. Drive back to Kaza by evening. Overnight at Kaza in home stay.

    Day 5 of the Spiti jeep safari: Kaza to Langza via Komic and Hikkim

    Today's journey will take you into the depths of the Pin Valley, where the Snow Leopards and the Siberian Ibex live. En route, visit the villages of Komic and Hikkim. At Hikkim, you can send a postcard from the highest post office in the world. Continue onward to Langza. Famous for the numerous small fossils found around the village, Langza is also the site of a giant Buddha statue overlooking the mountain ranges. Overnight at Langza in home stay.

    Day 6 of the Spiti jeep safari: Langza to Chandratal Lake

    Today, you will drive to the famed moon-shaped lake of Chandratal. A landscape photographer's dream, the Chandratal Lake is surrounded by one of the most breathtaking landscapes in the Spiti Valley. Overnight at Chandratal Lake in tents.

    Day 7 of the Spiti Valley trip: Chandratal Lake to Manali

    Make your way back to Manali via the Rohtang Pass. You can spend some time at the pass before you reach Manali. Overnight at Manali in hotel or guesthouse.

    Day 8 of the Spiti Valley trip: Depart from Manali

    Wake up and spend the morning exploring this wonderful city. Visit the marketplace to shop for any souvenirs. Check out by afternoon. Your trip ends here.

Lunch will be at Batal at the famous Chandra Dhaba that has often served as shelter for travellers trapped in Spiti due to bad weather conditions.

    Spend your night at Kaza in a cozy and rustic twin sharing home stay. Today's package includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. Lunch will be a packed, picnic lunch on the banks of the Spiti river.
