    This 9-day rod trip to Spiti Valley is an adventure-packed experience of the culture and tradition of Spiti. You'll visit the ancient monasteries of Key, Dhankar and Tabo, where the cool air is scented with incense and the walls are decorated with Buddhist art. You'll drive up to 15,000 feet to visit Komik, one of Asia's highest inhabited villages, and send a postcard from Hikkim, the highest post-office in the world. You'll also spend a night camping besides the famed Chandratal Lake, a must-visit for travellers to Spiti Valley.

    Spiti Valley is a high-altitude cold desert valley that connects India and Tibet. With a heavy Buddhist influence, the valley is dotted with historic Buddhist monuments and monasteries.     Rules on the trip

    Travellers are required to adhere to the instructions of the tour guide during the road trip to Spiti Valley.

    Travellers are requested to treat the local culture with respect and avoid littering, defacing property and monuments and causing general disturbance.

    Consumption of alcohol and drugs is strictly prohibited during the trip.

    Cancellation policy

    For cancellations made 21 days or more before departure of the Spiti Valley road trip: 90% refund.

    For cancellations made 15-21 days before departure of the Spiti Valley road trip: 75% refund.

    For cancellations made 8-14 days before departure of the Spiti Valley road trip: 50% refund.

    For cancellations made less than 8 days before departure of the Spiti Valley road trip: no refund.

    In case of no show: no refund.

    All refunds will be processed after deducting a transaction fee of INR 200 per person. This fee is charged by The Great Next.

    Additional instructions, booking policies, terms and conditions

    During this road trip to Spiti Valley, travellers will visit destinations at altitudes from 9,000 ft to 14,500 ft and may experience altitude sickness.

    Spiti Valley is located at an altitude with no internet connectivity and moderate road access/availability of services. Travellers are advised to take such circumstances under consideration before booking the trip.

    The tour operator takes utmost care to ensure safety of the travellers and shall not be held responsible for any mishap, accident or loss of life during the trip.

    The tour operator reserves the right to change or cancel the itinerary of this trip due to bad weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances to ensure maximum safety of travellers and staff.

  • Day 1 of the road trip to Spiti Valley: Delhi to Aut

    Arrive at New Delhi by 17:00 hrs and board a state transport bus to Aut in Himachal Pradesh. Overnight in transit.

    Day 2 of the road trip to Spiti Valley: Aut to Tirthan Valley

    After arriving in Aut by early morning, you'll take another state transport bus and reach Tirthan Valley after a short 2-hr drive. A popular tourist destination in Himachal Pradesh, Tirthan Valley is full of natural delights with plush greenery flowering all around town. The gorgeous Tirthan river flows right through the small town. Overnight in a guesthouse at Tirthan.

    Day 3 of the road trip to Spiti Valley: Tirthan to Sarahan

    After a leisurely morning at Tirthan, you'll board a private vehicle and travel to Sarahan, a little-known hill-station in Himachal Pradesh. Here, you'll visit the Bhimakali temple. Local legends say that human sacrifices were held at the temple until only 100 years ago. Evening walk around the hill-station is the perfect end to the day. Overnight in a guesthouse at Sarahan.

    Day 4 of the road trip to Spiti Valley: Sarahan to Nako

    Travel from Sarahan to Nako, the last village in the Kinnaur region. Here, you'll visit Nako's holy lake, dedicated to Lord Padmasambhava. You can also spot traditional houses at Nako, traditionally built with stacked stones. Overnight in a home-stay at Nako.

    Day 5 of the road trip to Spiti Valley: Nako to Langza

    Your day begins with a visit to Gue to take a look at the only 'mummy' found and preserved in India. The next stop is Tabo to visit the second-oldest monastery in world, over 1,000 years old. You'll also visit local monasteries in the villages of Dhankar and Lallung before halting for a mid-day break at Demul, the handicrafts village of Spiti. Before reaching Langza, you'll also visit Komik, the highest village with a motorable road in the world, and Hikkim, site of the world's highest post-office. Overnight in a home-stay at Langza.

    Day 6 of the road trip to Spiti Valley: Langza to Chandratal Lake

    Today, you'll drive to the Chandratal Lake, a moon-shaped, high-altitude lake. En route, you will visit the famous Key Gompa, a renowned Buddhist house of worship that is located atop a hill with sweeping views of the Spiti River. You'll stay at a campsite located a short distance away from the lake, accessible with a 45-min trek from the campsite. Overnight in Swiss tents at the Chandratal Lake.

    Day 7 of the road trip to Spiti Valley: Chandratal Lake to Manali

    Get an early start on the day and drive down to Manali via the Rohtang Pass. By evening, you'll reach Manali and check into a guesthouse at Old Manali. At the hill station, you can visit Manali's famous Mall Road and discover Manali's streets and cafes. Overnight in a guesthouse at Manali.

    Day 8 of the road trip to Spiti Valley: Depart for Delhi

    Take a day off and visit local attractions around Manali at leisure. Alternatively, you can also head to the Beas River for a session of rafting, at an additional cost. In the evening, you'll board a state transport bus back to New Delhi. Overnight in transit.

    Day 9 of the road trip to Spiti Valley: Arrive in Delhi

    You will reach New Delhi by early morning. Your trip ends here.

    Spend the night at Tirthan in a comfortable guesthouse on triple/multi-sharing basis. No meals are included throughout the trip, but you will stop at local restaurants and eateries to have meals at an additional cost.

    Day 3 of the road trip to Spiti Valley: Tirthan to Sarahan

    Spend the night at Sarahan in a comfortable guesthouse. The number of travellers accommodated in one room during overnight stay often depends on your group size and the availability of rooms at the guesthouse. No meals are provided in today's package, but you'll get ample opportunities to eat or parcel meals during stop overs and market visits.

    Day 4 of the road trip to Spiti Valley: Sarahan to Nako

    Spend the night at Nako in a traditional home-stay. Overnight stay at home-stays often give you the chance to interact with the local natives and get a first hand insight in their daily life. No meals are included throughout the trip, but you can eat local cuisines at restaurants and eateries during stop overs.

    Spend the night at Old Manali in a guesthouse on a triple/multi-sharing basis. No meals are included throughout the trip, but you can visit the many restaurants and cafes at Manali to have meals at additional cost.

    Day 8 of the road trip to Spiti Valley: Depart for Delhi

    Overnight in transit.

    You will board a state transport bus from Manali at 17:00 hrs to reach Delhi. You will spend the night in the bus. Make sure to buy some dry snacks at Manali to munch on during the journey. Since no meals are included throughout the trip, make sure to eat before the bus journey and get packed eatables in case you get hungry during the ride.

    Day 9 of the road trip to Spiti Valley: Arrive in Delhi
