  • Trip introduction

The forts of Alang and Madan, hidden away in deep forests of the Sahyadri mountains, are the destinations of one of the most challenging treks in Maharashtra. However, the trek, which takes you over sections of climbing and rappelling that require clever and tricky footwork, also offers equally rewarding views of countryside Maharashtra. The adjoining peaks offer a panoramic view of the Western Ghats, turned even more enchanting with a golden sunrise in the morning. Another highlight of this trek, you'll spend the night in the Alang-Madan Col cave for a unique and thrilling, outdoor experience.

    Destination

The twin forts of Alang and Madan are located near the campsites of Bhandardara, just a short drive away from Kasara. From the forts, you can catch breathtaking views of surrounding mountain peaks like Kalsubai and Kulang. These forts are home to old ruins consisting of a small temple and multiple water cisterns spread over a large plateau. En route, there are also two large caves where you'll spend the night after trekking to Alang and Madan.
