• Trip introduction

Add a little adventure to your weekend with this Andharban trek that'll take you deep into the dark and dense forests of Maharashtra. Clouded with misty, morning fog, the descending trail will take you through the mountains of the Kundalika Valley. Beginning from the Pimpri village, you'll make your way through an assortment of river streams, ponds and waterfalls carving the jungles of Andharban, and end the trek at the Bhira Dam. The Andharban trek takes you over a descending route of relatively easy difficulty, making it perfect for fit beginners as well as experienced trekkers, looking to escape the concrete jungles of the city to travel into a real one.

The forests of Andharban are spread over the hills of the Kundalika Valley, near Bhira Dam and Tamhini Ghat. Andharban, literally meaning the 'dark forest', is named so since patches of the forest are so thick and dense that the sunlight rarely reaches the ground, even during the day. In the monsoon, the confluence of trees and water bodies in the Andharban attract trekking enthusiasts who explore the trails meandering through the forest.
