  • Trip introduction

    A challenging Himalayan crossover trek even for experienced trekkers, Bali Pass connects the Har ki Dun Valley to Yamunotri. At the altitude of 16,240 ft, Bali Pass lets you experience the rawness of Himalayan mountains through an exhilarating trail and incredible views of Bandarpoonch, Kalanag and Swargarohini peaks.

    You will hike alongside the Ruinsara river, explore the delightful Ruinsara Tal and Devsu meadows, and camp at locations with the spectacular setting of snow-capped Himalayan mountains. This trek is best done in May, June, September and October.

    Please note that the Bali Pass trek is not suitable for beginners. The entire has some difficult climbs and tricky descents and is a challenging for seasoned trekkers as well.

    Destination

    Perched at 16,250 feet, Bali Pass offers panoramic views of Swargarohini, Kalanag and Bandarpooch peaks. The trip starts with a scenic drive from Dehradun to Taluka village, located at the altitude of 7000 feet. Apart from trekking along the Bali Pass, one of the highlights of this trek is camping beside Ruinsara Tal. The trail of this trek is a gorgeous blend of rhododendron forests, alpine meadows, quaint villages and snow-carpeted clearings. Trekking across the Bali Pass is absolutely spectacular in May, June, September and October, as the pass is covered with thick snow and trails are flourishing with wildflowers.

    Rules on the trip

    Travellers are requested to treat the local culture with respect and avoid littering, defacing property and monuments and causing general disturbance.

    Travellers are required to follow instructions of the trek leader during the trek to Bali Pass.

    Consumption of any kind of intoxicants is prohibited during the trek.

    Cancellation policy

    For cancellations made on or more than 24 days before departure of the Bali Pass trek: 95% refund.

    For cancellations made between 14-23 days before departure of the Bali Pass trek: 70% refund.

    For cancellations made between 8-13 days before departure of the Bali Pass trek: 50% refund.

    For cancellations made less than 8 days before departure of the Bali Pass trek: No refund.

    No show: No refund.

    All refunds will be processed after deducting a transaction fee of INR 200 per person. This fee is charged by The Great Next.

    Please note that our pick-up and drop-off is at Dehradun railway station and is not modifiable.

    The tour operator reserves the right to change or cancel the itinerary of this Bali Pass trek due to bad weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances to ensure maximum safety of travellers and staff. Travellers are required to bear any additional costs arising due to such a change in itinerary.

    The tour operator takes utmost care to ensure safety of the travellers and shall not be held responsible for any mishap, accident or loss of life during the Bali Pass trek.

  • Bali Pass Trek Day 1: Dehradun to Sankri Drive

    Arrive at Dehradun railway station by 06:00 hours today and meet up with the operator. Board the vehicle to Sankri. It will be a 200 km long journey of 8-9 hours through the winding roads of the Shivalik Himalayas. On the way, you will halt for breakfast and lunch at restaurants. You will arrive at Sankri in the evening. Overnight at a guesthouse/hotel in Sankri.

    Bali Pass Trek Day 2: Sankri to Taluka Drive, Trek to Seema

    Post-breakfast, you will be driven to Taluka, the start point of the trek. Today's trekking destination is Seema. Follow the trail through lush valleys, wild orchids and cross bridges over Tons river. You will also visit an ancient temple of Duryodhana located in Osla village. In the evening, pitch your tents at the campsite in Seema village. Overnight in tents.

    Bali Pass Trek Day 3: Seema to Rainbasera Trek

    After a refreshing breakfast, start trekking alongside the Supin River, while enjoying the views of Har ki Dun valley to your left. The trail will soon follow a route through the forest of pine and rhododendron, and gives you a fine view of Mt. Kalanag. After crossing the Supin River, you will reach the campsite in Rainbasera. Overnight in tents at Rainbasera.

    Bali Pass Trek Day 4: Rainbasera to Ruinsara Tal Trek

    Today's trek starts with a small descent alongside Supin River and moves towards the Ruinsara Lake in Ruinsara Valley. Ruinsara Tal is a holy lake surrounded by verdant meadows, rhododendron trees and snow-capped Himalayan peaks. Your camps will be set up beside the lake for the overnight stay.

    Bali Pass Trek Day 5: Explore Ruinsara Tal

    Today you will rest and acclimatize at the altitude of 11,000 ft at Ruinsara Lake. You may explore the surrounding meadows and forest. Else, you may read a book sitting beside the lake and spend time at leisure. Overnight in tents.

    Bali Pass Trek Day 6: Ruinsara Tal to Odari Trek

    Today's trek is an easy and short hike of 4 km to Odari. Feast on a hot lunch on arriving at the campsite. From here, you will get impeccable views of Swargarohini peaks and Mt. Kalanag, and verdant valleys. Overnight in tents at Odari.

    Bali Pass Trek Day 7: Trek to Upper Dhamni via Bali Pass

    Finally, the day you’ve been waiting for is here. Today you will wade through the thick snow of Bali Pass at the altitude of 16,250 feet. Today you will trek for 9-10 hours, hence will start early in the morning. The climb to the top of the pass is short but very steep. From the top, you can view either side of the valley and Dayara Bugyal as well. You will then descend to Upper Dhamni for the night stay.

    Bali Pass Trek Day 8: Trek to Janki Chatti via Yamunotri

    It's the last day of the trek. Start trekking from Janki Chatti towards the roadhead via Yamunotri. The trail follows a forested path and ends at the sacred Yamunotri Temple. After a long day of trekking, refresh yourself by taking a holy dip in the spring waters of Surya Kund and Gauri Kund. Overnight in a guesthouse in Janki Chatti.

    Bali Pass Trek Day 9: Janki Chatti to Dehradun Drive

    The trekking days are over. Grab a filling breakfast, board the vehicle, and relax on the way to Dehradun. You will arrive at Dehradun in the evening. Your trips ends here.

    Overnight in a hotel/guesthouse at Sankri.

    Board the private vehicle from Dehradun railway station to Sankri by 06:00 hours. Today's meal package includes dinner only. Tonight You will be staying in staying at a hotel/guesthouse on triple/quad sharing basis.

    Bali Pass Trek Day 2: Sankri to Taluka Drive, Trek to Seema

    Overnight in tents at Seema.

    Drive to Taluka and trek to Seema. Today's meal package includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. You will be staying in tents on twin/triple sharing basis. Mattresses, blankets and pillows will be provided for your comfort.

    Bali Pass Trek Day 3: Seema to Rainbasera Trek

    Overnight in tents at Rainbasera.

    Bali Pass Trek Day 4: Rainbasera to Ruinsara Tal Trek

    Bali Pass Trek Day 7: Trek to Upper Dhamni via Bali Pass

    Bali Pass Trek Day 9: Janki Chatti to Dehradun Drive

    Your trips ends today evening.

    Drive to Dehradun. No meals are included in today's package. You will make stops on the way to Dehradun to buy breakfast and lunch.
