Participants need to travel by bus or train to Kathgodam.
This 6-day easy to moderate difficulty trek is one of the few winter trekking options available to an avid hiker. This lake is opposite Roopkund, where the famed mystery human skeletons lie. On this trail, you'll get spectacular views of legendary peaks like Trishul, Nanda Ghanti, Chowkhamba, Nilkanth, as well as views of the sprawling Ali Bugyal and Bedni Bugyal, both meadows that are covered in snow. This is the closest you'll be able to get to these peaks without actually climbing them. You'll also get to camp at two frozen glacial lakes, and hike through silent conifer forests. The forests are calm and peaceful, with sounds muffled by the snow, and once you cross the tree-line, you'll start seeing mountain views like you've never seen before.
According to legend, Brahma Tal is the lake by which Lord Brahma meditated. The 6-day trek is one of the few treks that's open during winters and has some really beautiful views. It's not hard, but the trail to the summit and the lake is not very crowded, making this the perfect way to spend some time exploring the mountains in peace.

Participants meet the supplier at Kathgodam and drive to Loharjung. The journey takes about 8-9 hours. The road winds through the beautiful Kumaon region, passing Almora and Kausani. On the way participants take in spectacular views of peaks like Kamet and Panchachuli. By afternoon, participants are in Loharjung. They can spend time in the small market of Loharjung once they check in, or stay in the guesthouse and enjoy the beautiful sunset from their balconies.
Tonight you'll check into a cosy guesthouse in Lohajung. You can freshen up and head out to explore the small market (it closes early so don't delay), and then retire after an early dinner. Don't forget to charge your batteries and phone if you plan to use them on the camping days ahead.
