  • Trip introduction

The trek to Brahmatal is one of the most beautiful winter treks in the Indian Himalayas. The trail takes you through long and gorgeous jungle trail of rhododendron covered entirely with snow. Although incredibly pretty, Brahmatal is not as popular which is great for someone looking for a less crowded trekking destination. Brahmatal is perched amidst the ridge from where you get extremely close views of the two gigantic mountains: Trishul and Nandaghunti, along with Chaukhamba, Neelkanth and Hathi Ghoda mountains. This is a trek with some of the most mesmerizing mountain views. On this trek, along with Brahmatal, you will also camp beside the Bekaltal, both of which are frozen during the winter season.

The Brahmatal trek is an easy to moderate trek that is suitable for fit beginners, but the temperature in winter falls below zero at night, so do come prepared.

    Destination

The Brahmatal is an alpine lake perched at the altitude of 12,250 feet, just a short distance away from the Brahmatal summit. From the summit, you can see the imposing Mt. Trishul and Mt. Nandaghunti at either side of the ridge. You will also see 360-degree views of the snow-capped Himalayan mountains. Since the Roopkund Lake is located in the nearby area, you get to see Ali Bugyal and Bedini Bugyla, some of the most spectacular alpine meadows. On this trek, along with Brahmatal, you will also visit Bekaltal, another alpine lake at the altitude of 9,900 feet.
