    Chopta Tungnath trek (ex-Delhi)

    Embark on a 5-day trek to Chopta and spend a few days in the company of blossoming forests and rising mountains. You'll trek to the Tungnath Temple, the highest temple of Lord Shiva in the world. You'll climb the Chandrashila peak, a 13,123 feet tall summit that offers panoramic views. You'll also trek to the Deoriatal Lake, a high-altitude lake hidden in the mountain folds. All throughout the trip, you'll admire stunning views of hills in the Chopta valley with snow-capped peaks on the horizon.

    Destination

    Chopta is a small village in Uttarakhand that serves as the base for treks to Tungnath and Chandrashila. The evergreen forests and sprawling meadows of the village have attracted rare Himalayan birds like the multi-coloured monal. In the months of winter, the landscape is painted with a pristine white shade with snow, offering one of the best snow treks in Uttarakhand. The Chopta Tungnath trek gives you the chance to explore these varied forests with fields of rhododendron and gushing river streams.

    Chopta Tungnath trek (ex-Delhi) Photos

    Arrive at the pick-up point of the Vidhan Sabha Metro station in Delhi by 21:00 hrs and board a private AC bus. The 12-hr overnight journey will take you from Delhi to Chopta through famous towns like Haridwar and Rishikesh. Relax comfortably as you'll spend the whole night in transit.

    En route your bus journey towards Chopta you'll have a pit stop at Devprayag to witness the beautiful confluence of Bhagirathi and Alaknanda rivers. You'll then reach Chopta by noon where you'll check-in to a beautiful campsite and freshen up. Spend the afternoon relaxing in your tents with views of the gorgeous mountains. Alternatively, you can also go on a village walk to Baniyakund to explore the surroundings on your own. Overnight in tents at Chopta.

    Today, you'll head out for a trek to the Tungnath Temple, the highest temple of Lord Shiva in the world. From the temple you'll then trek further and keep climbing up to reach the Chandrashila peak. The uphill trek leads you through several steep inclines as well as vantage points to rest and admire stunning views of the landscape. Return to the campsite by early evening.     Wake up early in the morning to catch views of the Himalayan sunrise. After a lazy morning, you'll travel to Sari in a private vehicle and begin the trek to Deoriatal. The short hike takes you to a high-altitude lake with picturesque views of the hills. After a short time at the lake, you'll descend down and board a private bus for Delhi. Overnight in transit.

    Cancellation policy

    For cancellations made more than 30 days before the departure date of the Chopta Tungnath trek: 50% refund.

    For cancellations made between 15-30 days before the departure date of the Chopta Tungnath trek: 25% refund.

    For cancellations made less than 15 days before the departure date of the Chopta Tungnath trek: no refund.

    In case of no show: no refund.

    All refunds are processed after deducting a transaction fee of INR 200 per person. This fee is charged by The Great Next.

    Rules on trip

    Travellers are requested to treat the local culture with respect and avoid littering, defacing property and monuments and causing general disturbance.

    Travellers are required to follow instructions of the trek leader during the Chopta Tungnath trek.

    Consumption of alcohol, drugs and tobacco products like cigarettes is prohibited during the trek.

    Additional instructions, booking policies, terms and conditions

    Tardiness in arriving at the pick-up point may lead to missing the trip, without any refund. Please ensure punctuality in reporting to the pick-up point on the date of your departure.

    The tour operator reserves the right to change or cancel the itinerary of this Chopta Tungnath trek due to bad weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances to ensure maximum safety of travellers and staff. Travellers are required to bear any additional costs arising due to such a change in itinerary.

    The tour operator takes utmost care to ensure safety of the travellers and shall not be held responsible for any mishap or accident during the Chopta Tungnath trek.
