You can reach Haridwar by road or rail, as it is connected to most major hubs in India. You can also fly to Jolly Grant Airport (Dehradun) which is 41 kms away.
This trip is a combination of sheer beauty, adrenaline-inducing peak climbing, and gorgeous lakeside camping. You’ll start in the snow-laden hills of Chopta which is regarded as the Switzerland in India. The wide open meadows are as though freshly painted white and the pine forests are sprinkled with snow. You'll trek through, stopping to visit the highest Shiva temple in the world, Tungnath, camping at Deoriatal, and then the highlight: the summit climb to Chandrashila Peak. This climb takes you 13,000 feet above sea level. This climb, while not long, is steep, and gives you magnificent views from the top.
This trek takes you high up into the Garhwal Himalayas, making it one of the best treks for fit beginners looking for a bit of a challenge. During the winter, you can expect snowy vistas all around, and some amount of trekking in the snow, especially at Chandrashila. In the summer and spring months, there are wildflowers blooming along the trails, rhodendron trees in full blossom, and beautiful snow-capped peaks in the distance.

You'll be picked up at Haridwar Railway Station at 07:00 hrs, and will begin your drive to Sari. It's a beautiful drive, taking you past Rudraprayag and Devprayag, so you can expect views of the river all along. At Sari, you'll check in to a guesthouse or if available, a campsite.
Overnight stay at a guesthouse in Sari
You'll arrive at Sari by late afternoon or early evening. Depending on availability, you might be sleeping at a guesthouse, or camping in tents on triple sharing basis. You'll be provided with sleeping bags, mattresses, kitchen and toilet tents, and all camping gear if you're camping tonight. Today's package includes only dinner.
The cancellation policy is as follows:
For any cancellations made 24 days or more prior to the departure of the Chopta snow trek: 95% of the total trip cost will be refunded minus any transaction charges, or you can use this amount to book any other trek with the same operator within a year.
For cancellations made between 14-24 days before the departure of the Chopta snow trek: 70% of the total trip cost will be refunded minus any transaction charges, or you can use this amount to book the same trek with any other batch of the same operator within a year.
For any cancellations made between 10-14 days before the departure of the Chopta snow trek: 50% of the total trip cost will be refunded minus any transaction charges, or you can use this amount for the same trek in the same season.
For cancellations made less than 10 days before the departure of the Chopta snow trek: No refund but you can transfer the same trek to a friend.
Participants must adhere to the instructions of the trip leader/guide at all times during the snow trek to Chopta.
Consumption of alcoholic beverages/drugs during the snow trek to Chopta is not permitted.
