  • Trip introduction

Book this cycling tour of Delhi and become a part of the unique mix of colours, smells, sounds, tastes and unforgettable images. The Haveli tour is a magical way to explore Old Delhi, as you witness the glory of the past of the great emperor Shah Jahan and today's face of the old town. Packed with architectural wonders, this route brings history back to life. Your trip ends with an Indian breakfast in a fascinating heritage palace.

Your tour package includes 2 English/Hindi speaking guides for a group. The main guide cycles in the first position, the client in-between and one co-guide in the last position to ensure nobody is left behind.

For each tour, the maximum size is usually 9 participants in one group, to ensure you receive full attention. If your group is of a bigger size, it may be split into 2, 3 or more sub groups, and still conducted on the same day.

    Destination

Beautiful and full of history, Old Delhi is a hub for travellers from all over the world. The Haveli tour is a spirited and satiating plunge straight into the deep-end of Old Delhi (Shahjahanabad). Three hundred years of decadence, war, re-building and several regime changes later, the much smaller havelis of today manage to preserve a stunningly placid beauty that echoes haunting reminders of a grander past.

This tour is an overwhelming dip into the labyrinth of small lanes and markets which gives you a true understanding of the heritage and life of the old city. The Haveli tour also gives you an insight into how Shahjahanabad (the city of Moghul emporor Shah Jahan) transformed from a wealthy capital in the 17th century into a fragmented city searching for a lost identity.

You'll enjoy a rooftop visit with an astonishing view of Chandni Chowk (main street of Old Delhi), the Red Fort and the breakfast in a beautiful Haveli after which the tour has been named. All in all, by the time the tour concludes, you will have had an authentic Delhi heritage experience!
