Day 1 of the Ladakh motorbiking trip: Arrive in Delhi
Arrive in Delhi and convene at a pre-determined meeting point. In the afternoon, you'll meet your fellow motorbikers and your road captain for a brief orientation session to discuss the climate conditions, itinerary and other details of your upcoming motorbiking adventure. Overnight in a hotel at Delhi.
Day 2 of the Ladakh motorbiking trip: Delhi to Pathankot
Early in the morning, you'll flag off from Delhi and begin the Ladakh motorbiking adventure. Today's destination of Pathankot is reached after a long day of riding over flat and wide national highways. En route, you'll ride through the towns of Panipat, Kurukshetra and Ludhiana, before reaching Pathankot by late afternoon. Overnight in a hotel at Pathankot.
Day 3 of the Ladakh motorbiking trip: Pathankot to Srinagar
Riding through green fields and farms, you'll continue north from Pathankot over NH44. The route is primarily well-built national highways with a few sections of twisting mountainous roads. En route, you'll get to drive through a 3-km long Jawahar Tunnel. In the evening, you can head out to explore Srinagar's beautiful gardens and the famous Dal Lake. Overnight in a hotel at Srinagar.
Day 4 of the Ladakh motorbiking trip: Srinagar to Kargil
Leaving behind the scant greenery of Srinagar, you'll head east on the Srinagar-Leh highway. On the horizon, you'll begin seeing some of Ladakh's characteristic barren and brown mountains. En route to Kargil, you'll ride through the tricky turns of the Zojila Pass and cross the village of Drass, the second-coldest inhabited village in the world. You'll also halt to visit the Kargil War memorial, dedicated to the soldiers of the 1999 Indo-Pak war. Overnight in a hotel at Kargil.
Day 5 of the Ladakh motorbiking trip: Kargil to Leh
Keep riding east to reach the town of Leh, the capital city and the largest city of Ladakh. The route runs alongside the gorgeous Indus River and takes you to offbeat locations in the Batalik sector of Ladakh, a major battlefield during the 1999 Indo-Pak war. En route, you'll stop to visit the villages of Dha and Hanu, inhabited by Aryan natives that are descendants of soldiers in the army of Alexander the Great.
After crossing the Hambotingla Pass at over 13,000 feet, you'll arrive at Leh, but not before visiting the Sangam point, where the two rivers of Zanskar and Indus meet, and the Pathar Sahib Gurudwara, an important Sikh house of worship. You'll also visit the Hall of Fame, a museum dedicated to the Indian Army. Overnight in a hotel at Leh.
Day 6 of the Ladakh motorbiking trip: Day at Leh
Take a break from motorbiking and spend your day at leisure in Leh. Today, you can also head out to explore local attractions near Leh, such as the Shanti Stupa, the Leh Palace and the Thiksey Monastery. In the evening, you can also visit the Tibetan marketplace in Leh to shop for any souvenirs or gifts. Overnight in a hotel at Leh.
Day 7 of the Ladakh motorbiking trip: Leh to Hunder
Take on the challenge of motorbiking over the world's highest mountain pass, the Khardung-La, at an altitude of over 17,000 feet on today's journey to Hunder. Located in the Nubra Valley, Hunder is famous for sprawling sand dunes and the Bactrian double-humped camels. Enjoy a scenic evening at Hunder and visit the nearby Diskit Monastery. Overnight in Swiss tents or a hotel at Hunder.
Day 8 of the Ladakh motorbiking trip: Hunder to Sumur
Ride deeper into Nubra Valley and travel from Hunder to Turtuk, a scenic village surrounded by sprawling apple orchards and apricot farms. Spend some time admiring unique views of the landscape from Turtuk. You'll turn around and resume motorbiking and travel to Sumur, a quiet and lesser known village besides the Nubra River. Overnight in Swiss tents or a hotel at Sumur.
Day 9 of the Ladakh motorbiking trip: Sumur to Pangong Lake
If you wake up before dawn, you can take a short ride from Sumur and visit the hot springs of Panamik. Otherwise, you'll proceed to the Pangong Lake, travelling over an off-beat, rocky and rough route that will test your skills of motorbiking. You'll ride besides the Shyok River, taking in scenic views of the craggy mountains. At Pangong Lake, you can spend some time by the lake and enjoy the star-studded night sky. Overnight in Swiss tents at Pangong Lake.
Day 10 of the Ladakh motorbiking trip: Pangong Lake to Leh
In the morning, spend some time on the banks of the Pangong Lake, visit the area featured in the popular Bollywood movie '3 Idiots' and travel back to Leh. En route, you'll cross the high-altitude Chang-La Pass, often layered with thick snow all over. Overnight in a hotel at Leh.
Day 11 of the Ladakh motorbiking trip: Leh to Tso Moriri
Your motorbiking expedition continues as you travel south from Leh and reach Tso Moriri. The high-altitude Tso Moriri lake appears vast and endless, captivating travellers with views of rolling mountain ranges on all sides. Take some time to dip your feet in the water and meditate in peace. Overnight in Swiss tents or a hotel at Tso Moriri.
Day 12 of the Ladakh motorbiking trip: Tso Moriri to Sarchu
Ride from Tso Moriri to Sarchu. En route, you'll briefly halt at the Tso Kar Lake, another beautiful high-altitude lake in the Ladakhi range. You'll also cross More Plains, a vast stretch of flat land with breathtaking views on the horizon. En route, you'll ride through the challenging Gata Loops, a series of hairpin bends that require attentive motorbiking skills. Overnight in Swiss tents at Sarchu.
Day 13 of the Ladakh motorbiking trip: Sarchu to Manali
Travelling away from the barren hills of Ladakh, you'll return to the lush, green valleys of Manali. You'll ride through the Rohtang Pass, a famous mountain pass in Himachal Pradesh, and drive alongside the flowing Beas River. Soon, you'll find yourself in the charming woods near Manali, featuring thick forests of oak and pine. Overnight in a hotel at Manali.
Day 14 of the Ladakh motorbiking trip: Manali to Chandigarh
Returning to the smooth and wide roads of the plains, you'll be glad to ride at the relatively higher speeds on the national highway. You'll reach Chandigarh by late afternoon. Spend the evening at leisure or head out to explore the planned city. Overnight in a hotel at Chandigarh.
Day 15 of the Ladakh motorbiking trip: Chandigarh to Delhi
On the last day of your motorbiking adventure, you'll do a long stretch from Chandigarh to Delhi. You'll arrive late afternoon and return your motorbikes to your tour operator. Your trip ends here.
