    The Everest Base Camp trek takes you on a thrilling journey to the southern base camp that serves as the start point for mountaineers seeking to scale the highest mountain peak in the world. Get as up close and personal with this behemoth as you can and catch breathtaking views of countless peaks of the Himalayas. You will begin trekking towards Mt. Everest from the town of Lukla, located at an altitude of 9,400 ft. Trekking on a path of ever increasing altitude, you will reach the southern Everest Base Camp at an altitude of 18,200 ft. This 14-day trek offers you the most spectacular views of gushing river streams, gigantic glaciers, rhododendron forests and snow-clad mountain peaks that extend above the clouds.

    The trek to Everest Base Camp is a challenging activity that requires uphill climbing on rough mountain terrain for more than 5 hours per day. Travellers are required to have prior trekking experience that qualifies them to withstand strenuous patches of trekking.

    The most popular destination in Nepal for mountaineers and trekkers, the Everest region is layered with thick snow all year around, including the months of summer. On this trek, you will undertake trekking on rough mountain terrain to reach the southern Everest Base Camp. Thousands of trekkers visit the base camp every year and return, with only a select few attempting to go beyond the base camp and up to the mountain peak. En route to the base camp, you will trek to small villages like Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Lobuche and many more and stay at traditional tea houses that showcase Buddhist art and culture. Interact with other travellers and locals at the tea houses and experience the Nepalese hospitality. At base camp, you can catch astounding views of snow-covered landscapes and cross off a long awaited bucket list item.

    The Everest Base Camp is located at an altitude of 17,600 ft. Trekkers who are not accustomed to such high altitudes may experience altitude sickness.

  • Day 1 of Everest Base Camp Trek: Arrive at Kathmandu Airport

    Land at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. You can spend the rest of the day at leisure. With many waterholes to go drinking and restaurants that serve a multi-cuisine menu, Kathmandu’s bustling streets will keep you entertained. Visit the marketplace to do any last minute shopping or check out the professional expedition gear on sale. Return to the hotel for a restful night's sleep before nightfall.     Day 2 of Everest Base Camp Trek: Fly to Lukla; trek to Phakding

    After breakfast at the hotel, board an early morning flight to Lukla. Your journey will take you over the beautiful snow-covered mountains of the Solukhumbu Valley. Your aircraft, a small 20-seater plane, will land at one of the world's most challenging airstrips at the Tenzing-Hillary Airport. Spend some time exploring the town of Lukla and begin trekking towards Phakding with a gradual ascent. Look out for a spectacular view of the Kusum-Kangru range as you cross a short suspension bridge. En route, you will also trek through the Ghat village to reach Phakding by evening. Overnight at Phakding in tea houses.

    Day 3 of Everest Base Camp Trek: Phakding to Namche Bazaar

    Begin trekking towards Namche Bazaar by crossing a short suspension bridge over the Dudh Kosi river. With magnificent views of the Thermasarkhu mountain peak in sight, you will reach the village of Benkar. Here, you will cross a long suspension bridge over the Bhote Koshi river. Continue trekking under dense forest cover to reach the village of Namche Bazaar, lively with playfully curious local children and its warm, welcoming people.     Day 4 of Everest Base Camp Trek: Day at Namche Bazaar

    Take a break from trekking and spend a day at Namche Bazaar, located at an altitude of 11,300 ft. Acclimatize to the high altitude by eating regular meals, drinking enough water and taking short walks around town. You can spend the day relishing views of Kwangde mountain peaks from the village. You can choose to trek to the Sangmatha National Park or visit the local museum showcasing a history of the Himalayas. You also just spend the day in the comforts of your room. Overnight at Namche Bazaar in guest houses.

    Day 5 of Everest Base Camp Trek: Namche Bazaar to Tengboche

    Begin a pleasant hike from Namche Bazaar and head towards today's destination of Tengboche. After a 2-hr trek, you will reach the village of Shanasa. Here, you can spot the colourful Danphe pheasant, the national bird of Nepal. You might also get a peek at the musk-deer and the Himalayan Thar. After a gradual descent, reach the banks of the Imjatse River. You will also pass the Buddhist entrance en route to Tengboche. Overnight at Tengboche in guest houses.

    Day 6 of Everest Base Camp Trek: Tengboche to Dingboche

    Traverse through a dense forest of birch, juniper, fir and rhododendron trees through Dingboche. You will trek through the village of Deboche that offers a great vantage point with views of Mt. Ama Dblam, Mt. Everest, Nuptse and Lhotse. Continue trekking and cross a huge metal bridge that span the riverine Everest valley to reach Dingboche. Overnight at Dingboche in guest houses.

    Day 7 of Everest Base Camp Trek: Day at Dingboche

    The picturesque village of Dingboche is a lush green spread of farms and crop-fields that grow barley, buckwheat and potatoes. The village is dotted with charming tea houses, perfect to grab a hot cup in the cool mountain breeze. Spend the day acclimatizing at Dingboche or embark on a short trek to Chukung. The trek to Chukung is a gradual up-hill trek where the air gets thinner and thinner with every passing step. Return back to the guest house at Dingboche by evening.     Day 8 of Everest Base Camp Trek: Dingboche to Lobuche

    The trail from Dingboche turns north-bound on a gradually ascending path till you reach a mani-prayer stupa. Visit the stupa and continue a steady descent to pass through the village of Pheriche. The trail offers magnificent views of the Mt. Tawache, Ama Dablam and Pokalde, peaks of the North Himalayan ranges in Nepal, and spectacular views of the great wall of Nuptse. En route, you will cross a small wooden bridge over the river of Khumbu glacier in Thugla. Grab a hot cup of tea at Thugla and continue trekking to reach Lobuche. Overnight at Lobuche in guest houses.

    Day 9 of Everest Base Camp Trek: Lobuche to Gorakshep via Everest Base Camp

    The most awaited day of the trek, today you will scale Mt. Everest to reach the Everest Base Camp. Begin early in the morning and set off for the village of Gorakshep, which used to be the Everest Base Camp in the 1950s. Trek through grassy fields and rocky moraine dunes to see the glacial ponds and icebergs that lie below the Khumbu glacier. After a quick break at the village of Gorakshep, set out for Everest Base Camp. The journey alone to the Everest Base Camp is enigmatic. A high-altitude trek with a strenuous climb, the paths change every season due to the movement of the glaciers. A grand view of the Khumbu ice fall is your reward. During the peak expedition season, the Everest Base Camp is a lively place filled with travellers and explorers from all around the world. Spend some time at the base camp and retrace the route back to Gorakshep. Overnight at Gorakshep in guest houses.

    Day 10 of Everest Base Camp Trek: Gorakshep to Pheriche via Kalapatthar summit

    Today, you will scale the mountain peak of Kalapatthar. The trek to the top of Kalapatthar begins with a gradual uphill climb and ends with a strenuous trek up to the summit. Located on the south ridge of Mt Pumori, Kalapatthar offers the best view of Mt. Everest, a closer view than anything you have seen so far. The silhouette of the mountain appears to be at an arm’s length and looks ablaze in the golden sunlight. Descend from the mountain peak and trek towards Pheriche, the yak-breeding village of the mountain.

    Day 11 of Everest Base Camp Trek: Pheriche to Namche Bazaar

    Embark on a relatively easy trek that follows a downhill river stream through the Pheriche Valley. As you near Namche Bazaar, you can look down on the charming and sprawling bazaars of Namche Bazaar, vibrant with colours and fluttering Buddhist prayer flags. Spend a leisurely evening in Namche Bazaar and end your day over conversation and dinner. Overnight at Namche Bazaar in guest houses.

    Day 12 of Everest Base Camp Trek: Namche Bazaar to Lukla

    An early morning start will give you plenty of time to explore Namche Bazaar. Visit the local marketplace where you can find artwork and handicrafts. The trek from Namche Bazaar to Phakding is a moderately easy trek. The beautiful dense forests and snow peaks add to the beauty of the landscape. It is a gradual downhill hike, with easy uphill climbs at intervals, until you reach Lukla. Today will be your last day with the Sherpas and other crew members. End they day with dinner and drinks with the whole crew. Overnight at Lukla in guest houses.

    Day 13 of Everest Base Camp Trek: Fly back to Kathmandu

    Board a flight back from Lukla to Kathmandu. Flights are subject to weather conditions, so expect a some delays. If you're lucky to get a window seat, marvel at the bird's eye view of the mountain peaks that you scaled during your trek. You will reach Kathmandu by afternoon. Overnight at Kathmandu in hotel.

    Day 14 of Everest Base Camp Trek: Departure from Kathmandu

    Prepare to depart from Kathmandu and check-out of the hotel. You can board a flight from the airport and continue onward to your next destination. Your trip ends here.
