    This trek to Kothaligad fort is a surreal adventure that combines the thrill of a night trek, a chance to witness the dance of fireflies in the dark, and a fun morning peak climb. This fort is unique because it has steps carved into the pinnacle, from within the rock, and not on the outside as most other forts. On this trek, you'll also get a chance to live and eat with local villagers, and wake up to spectacular views.


    Located at an altitude of 3,100 feet, Kothaligad Fort, also known as the Peth Fort, is situated in Karjat in Maharashtra. Surrounded by lush green forests, the trail to this destination is a delightful one. It is also surrounded by other forts such as the Bhimashankar, Rajmachi, Dhak, Sinhagad and Prabalgad, so you can expect wonderful views all around. The intricate carving inside the rocks will baffle you, and the fireflies are going to amaze and delight you. This Kothaligad trek is an adventure full of things to see and do, and memories to take back!

  • Day 1 of the fireflies trek to Kothaligad: Spot fireflies!

    Catch the 16:30 hrs fast local train that from CST Mumbai to Karjat in order to reach by 18:30 hrs. At Karjat, you'll board vehicles for Ambivali village. From here, your trekking begins because towards Pethwadi village. You'll walk in the dark, enjoying stunning views of the fireflies dancing. Once in Pethwadi, enjoy a local dinner cooked by a villager, after which you can set out for a short exploration walk. Overnight at Pethwadi in homestay.

    For cancellations made 16-21 days before departure of the Kothaligad fireflies trek: 75% refund.

    For cancellations made 8-15 days before departure of the Kothaligad fireflies trek: 50% refund.

    For cancellations made 0-7 days before departure of the Kothaligad fireflies trek: No refund.

    All refunds will be processed after deducting any transaction charges.

    Rules on trip
