Rewind the clock by a few decades and the Hampta Pass was a popular route for traders from Spiti to cross into Manali for business. Today, the Hampta Pass route is just as popular with trekking enthusiasts. Overlooking the twin mountain peaks of Bara Shigri and Chita Shigri, the Hampta Pass is surrounded by melting glaciers and steep slopes on all sides. The climb to the pass is steep and adventurous, but the stunning views of the surrounding mountains will make it well worth your effort. And if you are lucky, you might even cross paths with the Himalayan black bears that roam the mountainside.
