• Trip introduction

The Hampta Pass trek is one of the most dramatic crossovers in the Himalayas. The stark changes in the landscape every day will leave you entranced. The green maple forest of Jobra gives way to the open grassland of Chika, which paves the way to the verdant Jwara meadows. The rocky terrain of Balu ka Ghera fluidly transforms into the snow-carpeted Hampta Pass, flanked by the tall mountains of Kullu Valley.

Trekking across the Hampta Pass brings you to the Lahaul-Spiti Valley, and you will embark on a short drive towards the crescent-shaped Chandratal Lake. This entire trek is moderately difficult but suitable for fit beginners. On the first day of this trek, you will go on a short sightseeing tour in Manali and visit Hidimba Temple and other places.

Hampta Pass is perched at an elevation of 14,100 feet in the Pir Panjal range of Himachal Pradesh. It serves as a crossover from the verdant Kullu Valley to the barren Spiti Valley, and is regularly used by shepherds and locals from the region around. On this trek, you'll be camping alongside a stream, in the middle of green hills, and scramble over boulders in the dry, brown Spiti moonscape. You will also experience the thick, mixed forests of Jobra, the undulating meadows of Chika, and the heavenly sight of Chandratal Lake.

You will be staying on multi-sharing basis in Manali and during the trek, you will be staying in tents on twin/triple sharing basis. Mats and blankets will be provided for your comfort.
