    This trek to the Hampta Pass takes you deep into the interiors of the Himalayas. From varied landscapes of meadows and pine forests, to snowy mountains and a barren terrain, you'll get to experience the full beauty of the Himalayas. Your Hampta Pass trek ends at the enchanting moon-shaped Chandratal Lake. With its clear blue waters reflecting the arid mountains around it, this day is the cherry on the top of this trek.

    This itinerary gives you time to enjoy the beautiful campsites that you'll be stopping at, with short walks to explore rivers and viewpoints each day. This 6-day trek to Hampta Pass is perfect for seasoned trekkers as well as fit first timers.

    Destination

    The Hampta Pass is a high altitude corridor between Lahaul valley and Kullu valley in Himachal Pradesh. Thanks to this location, you'll get to see the best of both worlds - the lush greenery of Kullu, and the moraines and rugged landscape of Spiti. The pass is at an elevation of 14,009 feet, so you'll be seeing spectacular views of the Dhauladhar range as you go. Apart from Hampta Pass, one of the biggest highlights of the trek is the blue, blue Chandratal Lake.

  • Day 1 of the Hampta Pass and Chandratal trek: Manali to Jobri Nala

    Arrive at the Manali bus stand by 10:30 hrs, and from here you'll be driven to Jobri Nala, where your campsite is set up. This first campsite is at an elevation of 9186 feet, so you'll spend the day acclimatizing here. You'll do some short hikes around the campsite, walking to Marhi and Bhujdar, or indulging in some fun activities at the campsite. In the evening, there's a campfire with soup and snacks, followed by dinner. Overnight at Jobri Nala in tents.

    Today you'll be picked up from Manali and driven to Jobri Nala in private shared vehicles. Lunch is served at the campsite, and you'll spend the day at the camp to acclimatize. In the evening, you'll be served snacks and hot soup around the campfire, and dinner afterwards. You'll be sleeping in twin-sharing alpine tents that are equipped with camping mattresses, sleeping bags and fleece liners. Your campsite also has toilet tents, separate for male and female travellers.

    Rules on trip

    Travellers are required to adhere to the instructions of the trek leader during the trek to Hampta Pass and Chandratal Lake.

    Travellers are requested to treat the local culture with respect and avoid littering, defacing property and monuments and causing general disturbance.

    Consumption of liquor, drugs, tobacco products and cigarettes is strictly prohibited during the trek to Hampta Pass and Chandratal Lake.

    A basic level of health and fitness is required to book this trek to Hampta Pass and Chandratal Lake. If you have any cardiac or respiratory conditions, or suffer from knee or spinal problems, please inform the tour operator and consult your doctor before booking this trip.

    Travellers will be required to bear any additional costs arising due to unforeseen circumstances such as bad weather, road blocks etc.

    The tour operator takes utmost care to ensure safety of the travellers and shall not be held responsible for any mishap or accident during the trek to Hampta Pass and Chandratal Lake.
