    Hampta Pass is one of the best loved treks in the Himalayas, and rightly so. It combines the thrill of being able to scale a pretty high mountain pass, with the possibility of fit beginners being able to tackle the challenges of the trail. While the first and last days are leisurely hikes through absolutely gorgeous scenery, with waterfalls, meadows filled with flowers, and clear streams cutting across, there are some tricky parts to provide the adrenaline. It's a short duration trek with unmatched views and campsites in very pretty locations.

    Destination

    Your Hampta Pass trek takes you through mixed forests of spruce, pine, maple and oak, with birds chirping, shaggy shepherd dogs, and sheep dotting the landscape. You'll also see a colourful abundance of wildflowers depending on the season, and if you're lucky, you'll be walking on snow on the Pass day.

    Your trek to Hampta Pass begins from the lush environs of Manali valley and progresses in relaxed stages to a height of 14,000 feet.

  • Day 1 of Hampta Pass trek: Manali to Chikha

    Today your adventure begins! You'll be driven to the dam site at Jobra, from where your trek begins. The early part of the trail is leisurely, meandering through mixed forests of pine, chestnut and maple trees. You'll cross a meadow that is home to a shepherd camp where you can interact with locals. You'll cross a river and climb up to your meadow campsite at Chikha. From here, you may choose to go for a walk to a nearby waterfall with wonderful flora and fauna, including a number of white-capped redstarts, small colourful birds who fill the air with their chirps. Overnight stay in tents.

    If you cancel 45 days before departure of the Hampta Pass trek: Full refund (after deducting any expenses that have been incurred for hotel bookings, transport, etc.) minus any transaction charges.

    If you cancel 30-45 days before departure of the Hampta Pass trek: 75% of trip cost will be refunded (after deducting any expenses that have been incurred for hotel bookings, transport, etc.) minus any transaction charges.

    If you cancel 15-30 days before departure of the Hampta Pass trek: 50% of trip cost will be refunded (after deducting any expenses that have been incurred for hotel bookings, transport, etc.) minus any transaction charges.

    If you cancel 15 days or less before departure of the Hampta Pass trek: No refund.

    Rules on trip

    The operator has a set of guidelines for the Hampta Pass trek that must be adhered to based on the tenets of ‘Leave No Trace’ & ‘Tread Light’ policies. These guidelines are very simple and emphasise on travelling in small groups, better planning, understanding impact of camping, proper waste disposal, respecting local cultures, sensitivity towards wildlife and so on.

    Participants must adhere to the instructions of the team leader during the trek to Hampta Pass.

    Smoking, consumption of alcohol, narcotic drugs etc. is strictly prohibited on the Hampta Pass trek.

    While trekking participants must follow a proper waste disposal system.

    Additional instructions, booking policies, terms and conditions

    The operator takes utmost care to ensure safety of its clients. However in the case of any unforeseen mishaps, the operator will not be liable for any injuries caused or for loss of life.

    If due to bad weather, sickness, natural calamity or any other personal reasons, the itinerary of this trip is changed, the extra charges for accommodation, transport, etc, will be borne by the guests. The same will be applicable if a guest decides to change the itinerary due to personal reasons, injury, or bad health.

    Participants will be required to fill up an indemnity form before the Hampta Pass trek. You are requesed to inform the operator if you're suffering from any major ailment and submit your health certificate.

    All fixed departure trips will be run according to a fixed schedule and standard services. In case of individual requirements, the operator may not be able to entertain the request or may have to charge additional amounts. Please be aware of this fact.
