  • Trip introduction

    The Hampta Pass trek is one of the best treks in the Himalayas, and also one of the most popular. Reaching as high as 14,000 feet, but suitable for fit first-timers, this five-day Hampta Pass trek itinerary takes you on a picturesque adventure. You'll start in the lush environs of Manali, and trek through pine forests and into the more stark landscape of Spiti. The third day involves a rather demanding climb up the Hampta Pass, which will be well worth it when you see the breathtaking views.

    Destination

    Beginning right from the base camp at Manali, you are in for a picturesque adventure. As you trek, you will lush pine forests, sprawling green meadows with cattle grazing, and have views of spectacular peaks all around. There are streams to cross and tricky boulder-strewn landscapes to negotiate, but the Hampta Pass trek is one that offers more rewards than challenges.

    Rules on the trip

    You have to be above 16 years of age to participate in the expedition.

    Drinking is strictly prohibited while on the Hampta Pass trek. In case of misconduct, the supplier reserves the right to discontinue the trip.

    Participants are requested to carry valid photo ID proof.

    Only those with valid and confirmed bookings are allowed to stay at the campsite.

    The departure timings for the Hampta Pass trek are sacrosanct. The team will depart at the appointed time, regardless of late arrivals. There is no refund for those who miss the trek due to late arrival.

    No pickup or drops will be done en route.

    Cancellation policy

    If cancelled 30 days or more before the departure of the Hampta Pass trek, 70% of the trek fees is refunded.

    Cancellations made between 15-30 days before the departure of the Hampta Pass trek, 50% of the trek fees is refunded.

    Cancellations made 0-15 days before the departure of the Hampta Pass trek: No refund.

    No refund for late arrival or no show.

    If travellers arrive late for Hampta Pass trek departure, they will miss the trek and will not receive a refund.

    Additional instructions, booking policies, terms and conditions

    The operator does not offer any insurance for accidents, sickness, losses, etc. The traveller is advised to seek their own insurance.

    You will be required to sign an Indemnity Form before starting the Hampta Pass trek.

  • Day 1 of Hampta Pass trek: Manali to Chikha

    Do ensure that you reach the base camp in Manali before or by 10:00 hrs. You will board private vehicles to be transferred to Jobra. You will begin your trek at 9800 feet, at a relatively easy pace. Twenty minutes into your first day of trekking, you will see beautiful views of sparkling streams against lush green meadows. You'll trek through this fairytale setting to get to Chikha, where you'll be camping for the night. Overnight in tents.

    Day 2 of the Hampta Pass trek: Chikha to Balu ka Ghera

    You will begin your trek through the Jwara trail, which takes you through a pretty sheltered valley. You'll be trekking beside a river, complete with real scenic beauty. It's a gorgeous trek which is relatively easy today, and you'll be getting to almost 11,000 feet. You'll arrive at camp by afternoon, and will have the rest of the day to relax and explore your surroundings. Your campsite for the night is in Balu ka Gera.

    Day 3 of the Hampta Pass trek: Hampta Pass day

    Wake up and eat a hearty breakfast to get ready for this challenging day. You start off along the river, and as you get closer to the pass, the slope becomes steeper. The last section is difficult and will take some focus, especially if there is snow on the trail. But you'll feel a thrill of victory when you get to the pass. Spend some time here, and then begin your descent back to Balu ka Ghera. Overnight in tents.

    Day 4 of the Hampta Pass trek: Return to Jobra and then Manali

    Today you begin your return trek. You'll be descending all the way to Jobra, where vehicles are waiting to take you back to Manali. You'll arrive at the base camp in Manali and retire to your tents for the night.

    Day 5 of the Hampta Pass trek: Trek ends

    Today you'll eat a hearty breakfast and enjoy a relaxed morning. Check out after that. Trip ends here.

  • Day 1 of Hampta Pass trek: Manali to Chikha

    Overnight in tent

    Your first night of camping for the Hampta trek is at Chikha. The campsite is a large meadow with a river running by. You'll be provided with tents on triple/quadruple sharing basis, as well as sleeping bags and sleeping mats. For your convenience, you'll have access to common dry pit toilet tents. Today's package includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.

    Day 2 of the Hampta Pass trek: Chikha to Balu ka Ghera

    Tonight you'll be camping at Balu ka Ghera. It's a sandy campsite with a sprawling view. Today's package includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.

    Day 3 of the Hampta Pass trek: Hampta Pass day

    Overnight in tent

    Today you'll climb to Hampta Pass and return to Balu ka Ghera at the end of the day. You'll be happy to spend the rest of the evening at the campsite, enjoying the feeling of victory. Today's package includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.

    Day 4 of the Hampta Pass trek: Return to Jobra and then Manali

    Overnight in tent

    Today you'll descend to Jobra, and will be picked up in vehicles. You'll be brought back to Manali, where you'll check in to the base camp. You'll sleep in tents tonight. Today's package includes breakfast and lunch.

    Day 5 of the Hampta Pass trek: Trek ends

    Trip ends before nightfall

    Today you can enjoy a hearty breakfast at the base camp, and then check out. The staff at base camp can help you decide how to spend your day, with options from paragliding in Solang, white water rafting, rock climbing, bicycling, or some sightseeing in Manali or Naggar. Trip ends here.
