  • Trip introduction

Har ki Dun is one of the best loved trekking routes in Uttarakhand, and attracts adventurers from around the world. It offers trekkers a chance to walk through the protected habitat of Govind National Park, where dozens of species of flowers and trees abound. There are apple orchards, green valleys, wildflowers, and streams everywhere, and you'll be camping in open meadows with sweet grass under you. The trek to Har-Ki-Dun valley is mix of peaceful walks, and adventurous ascents. It offers stunning views of the surrounding peaks and glaciers in the Banderpoonch range.

IMPORTANT: A minimum group size of 4 pax is required to make the booking.

This region is famous for its gorgeous flowers and meadows. For a long way, you'll be trekking along the Tons river, and you'll be seeing charming mountain villages like Giangad, Seema and Osla. There are some very beautiful camping spots which are set in pastoral settings. While there are a couple of ascents which are a little steep, this trek is not difficult and is suitable for first-timers.

  • Day 1: Drive to Giangad

Today you drive from Dehradun to Sankri village, which is about an 8-hour drive. The final 22 kms of the drive is through Govind national park and is a bumpy but beautiful drive. A few kilometers from Sankri is the Giangad camping grounds where you will set up camp for the night.

    Day 2: Camp at Datmir

Post breakfast you start towards Taluka village. It is a lovely walk along the river, which also passes through fields, forests, and apple orchards. You can either camp at Taluka village or camp a little further up near Datmir village.

    Day 3: Trek to Osla

You continue walking alongside the beautiful Tons river. The walk is rejuvenating and offers some stunning views. You cross over small streams that merge the Tons river. The village of Seema has a few dhabas and hotels, but you'll be camping across the river at Osla, to enjoy a quieter, more scenic experience.

    Day 4: Reach Har-Ki-Dun

The trek begins with a river crossing, over a quaint stone bridge which is very photogenic. The trail rises higher after this, giving you beautiful views of the Ruinsara valley and the peaks in the Banderpoonch range. The trail ascends through the fields and climbs high above the confluence of Tons and Ruinsara. The campsite is at the meeting point of the two valleys from Jamdar glacier where you will spend the night.

    Day 5: Explore Har-Ki-Dun

After breakfast you will spend most of the day exploring the beautiful Har ki Dun valley. The campsite offers beautiful views of Jamdar glacier, Hata peak and the Swargarohini peak. By afternoon you start heading back towards Osla.

    Day 6: Return to Giangad

Even though this is a long stretch, the walk is fairly easy and pleasant. After reaching Taluka village you can also opt for a shared jeep to cover the last 12 kms. You can spend the evening strolling around Sankri village.

Day 7: Drive back to Dehradun

You leave early morning to drive back to the beautiful town of Dehradun, which is about 210 kms away.
