    If you are looking for a challenging trek close to Mumbai, then the Harihar Fort trek may be the one for you. This intense trek begins in the lush greenery and the second half of the trail consists of an almost 80 degree incline with steep rock-cut stairs and rocky terrain. Along with gravity, you'll also be battling strong winds on your trek. And at the top, you'll get to explore the old ruins and the lush plateau of the fort which offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.

    NOTE: This is a difficult trek consisting of steep inclines and vertical drops that flank some part of the trail, hence, this trek is only suitable for experienced trekkers.

    Destination

    The historic Harihar Fort sits at an altitude of 3,676 feet within the Trimbakeshwar mountain range, in the Igatpuri region of the Western Ghats. It is an ancient fort which is only accessible via one route, and the fort houses a small cave, a decorated temple and ancient tanks. Built on the triangular prism of rock, this fort offers some gorgeous views of the surrounding landscape. The best time to visit the fort is during monsoons and winters, however, it should be noted that trekking during the monsoon is more difficult.

  • Day 1 of the Harihar Fort Trek: Depart from Mumbai

    Report to Chitra Cinema in Dadar East by 22:00 hrs today, from where you'll begin your overnight journey to the base village. Since it is an overnight journey, you may want to carry a shawl or a blanket. You'll reach the base village early in the morning.

    Overnight in transit bus.

    You'll be picked up from Dadar at 22:00 hrs, and begin your overnight journey to the base village. No meals are provided today, but remember to have a light dinner before boarding the transit bus.

    No refund will be provided for any cancellations once the Harihar Fort trek is booked.

    Rules on trip

    Smoking cigarettes, chewing tobacco or consuming alcohol is strictly prohibited on the Harihar trek.

    You must stick with your group at all times.

    No damage should be inflicted on monuments or natural environments.

    You must adhere to the instructions of the trek leader at all times.

    Taking photos or selfie near the edges of cliffs are not allowed.

    Participants are requested to carry trash back to the city and dispose it in dustbins.

    In case of injury, damage to self or property or death, the tour operator cannot be held responsible.

    Adventure activity is arranged considering normal weather. In case of cancellation of the Harihar trek due to reasons beyond control such as natural calamities, riots, political uncertainty, public transport failure etc, refund shall be payable with respect to the given refund policy.

    There will be no refunds or discounts given for services unused or missed due to traveller's own fault, negligence or breach of terms.
