    On this trek to Harihar Fort, you’ll climb up to an elevation of 3,600 feet as you hike through shrub forests and farms on mountain slopes. But the highlight of this trip is the last stretch of the trail when you’re faced with a steep staircase carved into the rocks of the fort. A steep and adventurous climb, you’ll take the rock-cut stairs for over 200 feet to reach the Harihar Fort. Upon reaching the fort after a 3-hr trek, you’ll catch spectacular views of the Phani Hill, Brahma Parvat and the mountains near Trimbakeshwar and views of Vaitarna.

    This trek will lead you over a well-defined trail of relatively moderate to easy difficulty, making it perfect for fit beginners as well as experienced trekkers.

    Destination

    Located close to Nashik, near the Vaitarna reservoir, the fort of Harihar was constructed in the 16th century to protect an important trade route between present-day Maharashtra and Gujarat. Today, the fort remains popular with trekking enthusiasts that come for the rock-cut stairs and to explore the historic ruins. Triangular in shape, the ruins of Harihar Fort include ancient temples, water cisterns, lakes and edifices.

  • Trek to Harihar Fort!

    Arrive at the Kasara railway station by 01:30 hrs. From here, you'll travel to the base village of Nirgudpada in private, shared vehicles. After arriving at the village, you can take a short nap or rest and have fun with your group. The trek begins at the crack of dawn, just before sunrise. After breakfast, you'll begin hiking to explore the morning views of forests and farms. By morning, you'll reach the Harihar Fort where you'll spend some time to admire the magnificent mountain views from the top. Begin your return trek and reach the base village on an easy, downhill trek. After lunch at a local restaurant or homestay in the base village, you'll travel back to Kasara. You'll reach Kasara railway station b 12:15 hrs. Your trip ends here.

    Your trip begins from the Kasara railway station by 01:30 hrs. Travel to base village of Nirgudpada will be arranged in private, shared vehicles. Today's meal package includes a packed breakfast served before beginning the trek and a packed lunch served after returning from the trek. Your trip ends at the Kasara railway station by 12:15 hrs.

    For cancellations more than 15 days before departure of the Harihar Fort trek: 75% refund.

    For cancellations made 10-15 days before departure of the Harihar Fort trek: 50% refund.

    For cancellations made less than 10 days before departure of the Harihar Fort trek: No refund.

    All refunds will be processed after deducting any transaction charges.

    Rules on trip

    Travellers are required to adhere to the instructions of the trek leader during the trek to Harihar Fort.

    Consumption of alcohol, drugs, tobacco products and cigarettes is strictly prohibited during the trek.

    Travellers are requested to treat the local culture with respect and avoid littering, defacing property and monuments and causing general disturbance.
