  • Trip introduction

    This trek to Harishchandragad Fort takes you over the rugged terrain that is typical of the Sahyadris. You’ll negotiate steep slopes and rocky outcrops to summit to the top and witness a gorgeous sunset from Konkankada. There is also a stunning sunrise to be witnessed from the top of Taramati peak where the marshmallow clouds sail only a few feet above. You'll camp at the iconic Konkankada cliff that looks like cobra’s hood, and will return the next day.

    IMPORTANT: This is a moderate to challenging trek and is not recommended for first-time trekkers. This trek does NOT take the tougher route via Nali chi Vaat, but it is still suitable only for trekkers with prior experience.

    Destination

    Harishchandragad is an ancient fort which stands at an astounding altitude of 3500 feet. On the trek to Harishchandragad fort, you’ll be trekking into the forested interiors of Maharashtra, through picturesque tiny hamlets, steep hills, and waterfalls. You’ll also trek to Maharashtra’s second highest peak, Taramati, from where you can see the Ajoba Hills and the Alang, Madan, Kulang forts.

    Rules on the trip

    Smoking cigarettes, chewing tobacco or consuming alcohol is strictly prohibited during the Harishchandragad trek and camping.

    You must stick with your group at all times.

    No damage should be inflicted on monuments or natural environments.

    You must adhere to the instructions of the trek leader at all times.

    Taking photos or selfie near the edges are not allowed.

    Participants are requested to carry trash back to the city and dispose it in dustbins.

    Cancellation policy

    If cancellation is done 10 days or more prior to the departure of the Harishchandragad trek: 75% of the trip cost will be refunded, minus any transaction charges.

    If cancellation is done 5-10 days prior to the departure of the Harishchandragad trek: 50% of the trip cost will be refunded, minus any transaction charges.

    If the cancellation is done 0-5 days prior to the departure of the Harishchandragad trek and camping: No refund.

    No show: No refund.

    If you wish to transfer your booking to someone else, or reschedule to another date, the cancellation policy will apply, and only the applicable refund amount will be transferred or rescheduled.

    Additional instructions, booking policies, terms and conditions

    In case of injury, damage to self or property or death during the Harishchandragad trek and camping, the operator will not be held responsible.

    Adventure activity is arranged considering normal weather. In case of cancellation of any event due to reasons beyond control such as natural calamities, riots, political uncertainty, public transport failure etc., refund shall be payable with respect to the given to refund policy.

    There will be no refunds or discounts given for services unused or missed due to traveller's own fault, negligence or breach of terms.

    There are no washroom facilities during the trek and camping to Harishchandragad and the participants will have access to changing facilities and basic washrooms at the base village.

    There will be no cellular network at the campsite and through most parts of the trek.

    Participants must purchase return tickets to Kasara Station and board the second compartment of the train from CST Station.

    If you miss the 00:14 hours fast local from CST Station to Kasara, you'll miss the trip. No refund will be entertained in such cases.

  • Day 1 of the Harishchandragad trek: Summit and camping at Konkankada

    Board the 00:14 hours Kasara fast local from CST Station and arrive at Kasara Station by 03:00 hours. You'll meet the operator here and be driven to Pachnai Village. You'll freshen up and eat a delicious breakfast at the base village before starting your trek at 08:15 hours. You'll ascend to Konkankada by 11:00 hours where you can rest and eat a packed lunch. You'll then explore the remnants of the ancient fort at the summit before returning to your campsite at Konkankada, where you can take a nap or just relax for a while. Witness a scenic sunset from here before you dig into an early dinner at 20:00 hours. You'll enjoy a warm bonfire before retiring to bed early. Overnight stay in tents.

    Day 2 of the Harishchandragad trek: Trek to Taramati; return to Mumbai

    Wake up at 04:00 hours and begin your ascent to the Taramati Peak. You'll reach in time to catch a stunning sunrise. Descend to Konkankada for breakfast and soak in the view of the surrounding peaks in the morning light. After breakfast, begin your descent to the base village where a delicious lunch awaits you. After lunch, you'll be driven to Kasara Station. Your trip ends here, and you can board a train to get back to Mumbai.

  • Day 1 of the Harishchandragad trek: Summit and camping at Konkankada

    Overnight stay in tents.

    You'll be driven from Kasara Station to Pachnai Village where you'll freshen up and have sweet tea and breakfast. You'll eat a packed lunch at Konkankada and your tents will be set up on the cliff. Spend the night on Konkankada cliff in alpine tents on triple or quadruple sharing basis. You'll have sweet tea in the evening before enjoying a fun-filled bonfire and dinner before retiring to bed early.

    Day 2 of the Harishchandragad trek: Trek to Taramati; return to Mumbai

    Your trip ends before nightfall.

    You'll climb the Taramati peak and witness a stunning sunrise. You'll descend to Konkankada and have breakfast before returning to the base village. You'll eat a delicious lunch here before being driven to Kasara Station. You can board the earliest train to Mumbai and you should reach by 20:00 hours. Your trip ends here.
