Weekend trek to Harishchandragad

Embark on one of the more challenging treks of Maharashtra and spend a night exploring the countryside mountains and forests of the Sahyadri range. Trekking over narrow routes, slippery edges, steep rockfaces and giant boulders, you'll climb your way to the top of Harishchandragad. En route, picture perfect views of the valley will accompany you. You'll spend the night at Konkankada, sleeping in tents pitched in the wilderness of the mighty mountains. The next day, before making your way down, you'll grab a shining sunrise from the Taramati Shikhar.

This trek to Harishchandragad takes you over a trail rated moderately difficult, making it perfect for fit and healthy beginners as well as experienced trekkers.

Destination

Located a 4-hr drive and a 3-hr trek from Kasara, the pinnacle of Harishchandragad is located inside the Kalsubai Harishchandragad Wildlife Sanctuary. Although not much remains of the actual fort, trekkers can visit the several temples and caves of Harishchandragad, the history reminiscent of the centuries-old tales of Marathas and Mugals. Harishchandragad is also located close to Konkankada, a flat plateau that now serves as a camping ground as well as the Taramati Shikhar, a tall peak offering views of the sunrise.
