Embark on one of the more challenging treks of Maharashtra and spend a night exploring the countryside mountains and forests of the Sahyadri range. Trekking over narrow routes, slippery edges, steep rockfaces and giant boulders, you'll climb your way to the top of Harishchandragad. En route, picture perfect views of the valley will accompany you. You'll spend the night at Konkankada, sleeping in tents pitched in the wilderness of the mighty mountains. The next day, before making your way down, you'll grab a shining sunrise from the Taramati Shikhar.
This trek to Harishchandragad takes you over a trail rated moderately difficult, making it perfect for fit and healthy beginners as well as experienced trekkers.
Located a 4-hr drive and a 3-hr trek from Kasara, the pinnacle of Harishchandragad is located inside the Kalsubai Harishchandragad Wildlife Sanctuary. Although not much remains of the actual fort, trekkers can visit the several temples and caves of Harishchandragad, the history reminiscent of the centuries-old tales of Marathas and Mugals. Harishchandragad is also located close to Konkankada, a flat plateau that now serves as a camping ground as well as the Taramati Shikhar, a tall peak offering views of the sunrise.

Day 1 of the Harishchandragad trek: Mumbai to Harishchandragad
Arrive at the Kasara railway station by 01:20 hrs. Here, you'll board a non-AC vehicle and settle in for a 4-hr drive from Kasara to the base village of the trek. After the morning sun rises in the sky, you'll begin the trek to Harishchandragad. Ascending over an uphill route for 3 hrs, you'll catch beautiful views of the Sahyadri mountains on your way to the top. You'll spend some time at Harishchandragad, exploring the several temples, caves and ruins of the fort. Resume trekking and reach Konkankada by noon.
Spend some time exploring the area and clicking photographs. Soon, you'll set up camp at Konkankada and spend the rest of the evening having fun with your fellow trekkers. Overnight in tents at Konkankada.

Your trip begins from the Kasara railway station at 01:20 hrs. Travel to the base village will be arranged in a private, non-AC vehicle. Today's meal package includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. Evening tea will also be available. You'll be accommodated in shared tents at Konkankada. Please remember to carry your own sleeping bag or bed sheet.

Day 2 of the Harishchandragad trek: Arrive back at Mumbai
Wake up early in the morning, before the break of dawn, and begin the trek to Taramati Shikhar. A short uphill trek later, you'll find yourself at your destination, just in time to enjoy a beautiful sunrise. Descend back from Taramati and make your way back to the base village. En route, you'll stop to rest at Konkankada. You should reach the base village by noon. Here, vehicles will be waiting to drive you back to Kasara. Subject to traffic conditions, you'll arrive at the Kasara railway station by 17:00 hrs. Your trip ends here.
