Kalavantin Fort is also known as the watchtower of the Maratha empire, thanks to its towering height. The dizzying climb to the pinnacle of Kalavantin is a real challenge, because you'll be negotiating tricky steps carved around a narrow rock structure. There's no support to hold on to, and the winds can get quite strong up here. But you'll feel more alive than you have for a long time!
You'll begin trekking early in the morning from the base village of Thakurwadi. En route to Kalavantin, you'll rest at the Prabalmachi village and catch sweeping views of the Sahyadri mountains.
The Kalavantin trek is an arduous and long trek and not recommended for first time trekkers.
Standing at an astounding height of 2,320 feet, Kalavantin Fort lies in the rocky regions of the Western Ghats, between Matheran and Panvel. The route to this magnificent fort leads you through lush greenery, with some rocky patches. The pinnacle is on the northern edge of the Prabal plateau and can be spotted from the Mumbai Pune expressway. You'll trek to the Prabalmachi village, on the Prabal plateau, and rest before attempting the trek to Kalavantin pinnacle.

Arrive at the Panvel railway station by 07:00 hrs. Here, you'll meet your fellow trekkers and board private, shared vehicles that will take you to Thakurwadi, the base village of the trek to Kalavantin. Begin trekking from the village and arrive at Prabalmachi where you'll stop to have breakfast with hot tea. After resting at Prabalmachi for a while, you'll resume trekking and scale the Kalavantin pinnacle.
Descend down to Prabalmachi by 13:30 hrs for lunch. You'll begin the return trek back to Thakurwadi, where vehicles will be waiting for to drive you back to Panvel. You'll arrive at Panvel railway station by 17:30 hrs. Your trip ends here.

Arrive at the Panvel railway station by 07:00 hrs. Travel to the base village of Thakurwadi will be arranged in shared, private vehicles. Today's meal package includes breakfast and lunch, both served at Prabalmachi village. Lunch will include a non-veg dish as well. Your trip ends at the Panvel railway station by 17:30 hrs.
