Panvel station is about 50 kms from Mumbai and can be reached by local train or by bus.
This spectacular trek to Kalavantin Fort takes you through a deep dense forest, all the way to the pinnacle. You'll trek through thickets of lush green forests, cascading waterfalls, spectacular views of the hills around, and the smell of monsoon’s earthiness. But the highlight is the pinnacle climb at the end. You'll have to ascend steep rock-cut stairs with no support, with the monsoon winds blowing, and slippery moss under your feet. But the 360-degree view from the top is truly worth it.
Located between Matheran and Panvel, in the rocky region of the Western Ghats, Kalavantin Fort stands at a impressive height of 2300 feet. You begin your climb from Thakurwadi village and climb to Prabalmachi which lies at the base of the Kalavantin pinnacle. After that, you'll scale the pinnacle to discover the views of Prabalgad fort and Irshalgad fort, as well as the sweeping valley below.

Plan your travel so that you reach Panvel by 07:30 hrs and can meet the rest of your group on time. You'll eat breakfast here and take local transport to Thakurwadi and start trekking by about 08:30 hrs. You'll get to Prabalmachi by about 11:00 hrs and take a short break before starting your climb to the Kalavantin pinnacle. With breathtaking views awaiting you at the top, your climb is thrilling and takes you over steep treacherous steps. You'll have some time to enjoy the views at the top, and then you'll make your way make your way back to Prabalmachi for lunch, after which you'll begin your descent. You'll be dropped off at Panvel station, and the trip ends here.
Your single day trip package includes a vegetarian breakfast upon your arrival at Panvel station, followed by evening snacks and hot tea. At Prabalmachi, you can buy a simple meal, but you can bring a packed lunch too. Basic amenities such as washrooms and changing rooms are available at Thakurwadi.

Smoking cigarettes, chewing tobacco or consuming alcohol is strictly prohibited on the Kalavantin trek.

No damage should be inflicted on monuments or natural environments.

Taking photos or selfie near the edges of cliffs is not allowed.
Participants are requested to carry trash back to the city and dispose it in dustbins.
