  • Trip introduction

This night trek to Kalsubai gives you the thrill of conquering the highest peak in Maharashtra, with the experience of climbing in the dark. You'll scale a 5400 feet tall mountain when the moon is overhead, with the hooting of owls and the rustling of nocturnal animals in the bushes.

This trek requires a certain amount of fitness and stamina but can be undertaken by fit beginners. The route can get tricky, with steep slopes and iron ladders to climb, but you'll get to the top and get gorgeous views of the faraway lights glimmering in the sleeping land below. You'll also spot the Alang, Madan, Kulang and Ratangad peaks, alongside the Pabhargad and Harishchandragad forts.

    Destination

Found within the Kalsubai Harishchandragad Wildlife Sanctuary, Kalsubai towers at a monumental height of 5,400 feet. This lofty peak is called the ‘Everest of Maharashtra,’ and is a tough climb, especially at night. The lower half is enveloped in dense forest and rocky trails, and the descent can be quite steep too, although you'll be doing that when the sun is up. Your trek starts from the small hamlet of Bari and goes along the ladder route, taking you to the perfect vantage point so you can enjoy a stunning sunrise.
