Kalsubai Peak Trek

Climb up to an altitude of 5,400 feet and scale the highest mountain peak in the state of Maharashtra. The trek to Kalsubai, even as it goes over uphill terrain marked by slippery rocks, dense jungles and steep inclines, is perfect for fit beginners as well as experienced trekkers. Throughout the trek, clattering iron ladders will assist your climb. Patches of open meadows with an easy ascent will give you a chance to stop and admire gorgeous views of the Sahyadri mountain ranges. From the top of the peak, the highest point in Maharashtra, you'll catch refreshing views of other peaks including the trio of Alang, Madan and Kulang and the vast expanse of Lake Arthur.

Destination

Often called as the Mt. Everest of Maharashtra, the Kalsubai peak is located in the Kalsubai Harishchandragad Wildlife Sanctuary, a short distance away from Igatpuri. As the monsoon brings a change of scenery over the hills by turning them green, the peak of Kalsubai becomes a popular destination of avid nature lovers and trekking enthusiasts during the monsoon season. Atop the peak, there is a temple frequented by local villagers and vantage points to click awesome photographs and view breathtaking sceneries.

Arrive at the Kasara railway station by 03:00 hrs. You may board the local train to Kasara departing CSMT station by 00:14 hrs to arrive on time. At Kasara, you'll meet your fellow trekkers and board a private vehicle that'll drive you to the village of Bari. After a short 1-hr drive, you'll allow at the base village of Bari and take some time to rest in your vehicle. As the dawn approaches, you'll begin the trek to Kalsubai over uphill patches and staircases. You'll arrive on top after a 2-hr trek and spend some time basking in the morning sunlight on top.

Begin your descent back to the village of Bari, where you'll board the private vehicle and return back to Kasara railway station. You'll arrive back at Kasara by 13:00 hrs. Your trip ends here.

Your trip ends by early afternoon.

Your trek to Kalsubai begins from the Kasara railway station. Travel to the base village of Bari will be arranged in private, shared SUV/bus or similar vehicle. Today's meal package includes breakfast served either at the base village before beginning the trek or at the top of Kalsubai peak and lunch served at the base village after completing the trek. Your trip ends as you return back to Kasara railway station.

For cancellations made more than 3 days prior to departure of the Kalsubai trek: 100% refund.

For cancellations made on or less than 3 days prior to departure of the Kalsubai trek: No refund.

All refunds will be processed after deducting any transaction charges.

Rules on trip

Travellers are required to adhere to instructions of the trek leader during the trek to Kalsubai.

Travellers are requested to treat the local culture with respect and avoid littering, defacing property and monuments and causing general disturbance.

Consumption of alcohol, drugs, tobacco products and cigarettes is strictly prohibited during the trek to Kalsubai.

Additional instructions, booking policies, terms and conditions

Travellers may board the local train to Kasara departing CSMT railway station by 00:14 hrs and arrive at Kasara railway station by 03:00 hrs. Tardiness is arriving at the pick-up point will lead to missing the trek, without any refund.

The tour operator reserves the right to cancel or alter the itinerary of the trek to Kalsubai to maximize the safety of travellers as well as staff.

Travellers will be required to bear any additional costs arising due to unforeseen circumstances such as bad weather, road blocks etc.
