On this trek, you’ll take on the challenge of climbing up to an altitude of over 5,400 feet and scaling the Kalsubai peak. At the top, you’ll visit the Kalsubai temple and catch unfiltered views of forest-covered mountains of the Sahyadri ranges. With lush rain-soaked greenery covering the trail, this trek to Kalsubai is one of the must-do monsoon treks of Maharashtra.

    Even though this trek will take you on an uphill trail of relatively moderate to easy difficulty, fit beginners as well as experienced trekkers can attempt the trek.

    Destination

    Located near the scenic camping grounds of Bhandardara, only 30 kms away from Igatpuri, the mountain peak of Kalsubai is a popular trekking destination for nature lovers from Mumbai and Pune. The tallest peak in Maharashtra offers breathtaking views of rolling hills that house the forts of Alang, Madan and Kulang. To aid trekkers, ladders and stairs have been installed at various locations on the route to Kalsubai peak.

  • Day 1 of the Kalsubai trek: Depart from Mumbai

    Meet your fellow trekkers and the trek leader at the Chitra Cinema in Dadar East by 22:15 hrs. Here, you'll board a private, non-AC vehicle and travel to the base village of Bari. Overnight in transit.

    Your trip begins at the Chitra Cinema in Dadar East by 22:15 hrs. Travel to Bari village will be arranged in private, non-AC vehicle. Since you're trekking in the monsoon, don't forget to carry an umbrella or raincoat.

    For cancellations made more than 15 days before departure of the Kalsubai trek: 70% refund.

    For cancellations made 15-10 days before departure of the Kalsubai trek: 50% refund.

    For cancellations made 9-7 days before departure of the Kalsubai trek: 30% refund.

    For cancellations made less than 7 days before departure of the Kalsubai trek: No refund.

    No show: No refund.

    No refunds will be given if the trip is cancelled due to weather conditions or any unforeseen conditions.

    All refunds will be processed after deducting any transaction charges.

    Rules on trip

    Travellers are required to adhere to the instructions of the trek leader during the trek to Kalsubai.

    Consumption of alcohol, drugs, tobacco products and cigarettes is strictly prohibited during the trek.

    Travellers are requested to treat the local culture with respect and avoid littering, defacing property and monuments and causing general disturbance.

    Travellers are requested to be punctual and arrive at the pick-up point of the trek on time.

    The tour operator takes utmost care to ensure safety of the travellers and shall not be held responsible for any mishap or accident during the trek to Kalsubai.
