Trek to Kalsubai Peak, the highest peak of Western Ghats in Maharashtra, situated at an elevation of 5400 feet. The trek begins in the cold hours of morning and takes you through the green fields of Bari village. The trail is a blend of steep ascends and climbing up iron staircases. In monsoon, the landscape is dotted with waterfalls and flourishing greenery all over the mountains. The best part of the Kalsubai trek is the satisfaction of conquering the highest peak of Maharashtra.
The trek to Kalsubai Peak is a moderately difficult trek and is not recommended for beginners.
Kalsubai, often regarded as the Mt. Everest of Maharashtra, is the highest mountain peak in the state. Located in the Western Ghats with close proximity to Mumbai and Pune, Kalsubai is a popular peak for trekking enthusiasts looking for a short day trek for the weekend.
The Kalsubai trek has attracted adventure enthusiasts for years now, but it is only lately that the authorities have built iron ladders along the slopes for the benefit of those climbing. While this helps, the climb can be a challenge, especially during the rainy months when winds are strong and the rocks are always wet and mossy. From the peak, you will get panoramic views of several mountain ranges like Alang, Madan, Kulang, Ratangad, Pabhargad, Ghanchakkar and Harishchandragad, among many others.
