The trek to Kareri Lake is one of the most scenic and easy treks in Himachal Pradesh that takes you to the Dhauladhar mountain ranges. On this trek, you will ascend through forests of oak, pine and rhododendron, trek alongside Niyund stream, cross babbling brooks via wooden bridges, walk through alpine meadows, pass by charming villages of shepherds, and camp at the banks of the enchanting Kareri Lake. It is a great trek for bird-watchers too, as you will see many exotic, colorful birds while trekking. The trek to Kareri Lake during winter is delightful, for the lake is frozen and the trail is usually covered with snow.
The trail to Kareri Lake is easy, but there are few steep climbs and rocky terrain, so it recommended for fit beginners and experienced trekkers.
Kareri Lake is situated at an altitude of 9,625 feet in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. Kareri Lake is a shallow glacial lake formed by the melting of glaciers, and is surrounded by the towering, snow-peaked Dhauladhar mountain ranges. The ambiance around the lake is generally calm and pleasant. Kareri Lake is also a base camp for trekkers planning to trek to the Minkiani and Baleni Pass. Throughout the trek, you will be camping at gorgeous locations in tents on double/triple sharing basis.

Board the AC bus to Mcleaodganj from Vidhan Sabha Metro Station, Delhi by 20:00 hours. You can carry packed dinner and dry snacks for the overnight bus journey. You will reach Mcleoadganj in the morning. Overnight in the bus transit.
