You can get to Dharamshala by flight (Gaggal Airport, 15 kms away), or by train. The Dharamshala Bus Stand is a popular landmark in the city.

Situated at an altitude of 10,500 ft, Kareri Lake is fed by the melting snow from the Dhauladhar mountains. This trek to Kareri Lake is a good trek for fit beginners, because it is mostly easy, but has some steep sections. It's close to Dharamshala, so you'll have to get to McLeodganj to start. The trail takes you through alpine forests, over sparkling streams, and up to the lake, where you'll camp at the base of two passes, with views of mountains all around.

Your day begins at the Dharamshala bus stand at 09:00 hrs. Here, after a quick introduction session, you'll board the vehicles and will be driven to Kareri Village. You'll eat breakfast at the village, and then begin your Kareri lake trek. It is mostly a moderate trail with some steep parts, passing through oak forests and up to a campsite next to a freshwater stream. You'll spend the night at this beautiful campsite. Overnight in tents.

You'll be picked up from Dharamshala and driven to Kareri village, where you'll eat breakfast and then begin your trek to Rioti Village. Here you'll stay in triple-sharing tents or in village homes, and will be provided with sleeping bags and mats. Today's package includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Trekkers are expected to maintain cleanliness at the campsites and throughout the Kareri Lake trek. Please do not litter the trail. If possible, collect garbage on the way and dispose of it at proper sites.
Please do not disturb fellow trekkers during the trek to Kareri Lake.
The trek leader's decision is final during the Kareri Lake trek.
There is a strict rule against alcohol and drugs during the Kareri Lake trek. Trekkers will be expected to follow it.
