    Karnala Fort Trek

    The trek to Karnala Fort is an easy and delightful fort trek near Mumbai. As the fort lies within the Karnala bird sanctuary, you will see an incredible variety of birds which are endemic to the Western Ghats and migratory birds which find shelter in the sanctuary during winter. On this trek, you will be trekking along a thickly forested trail, walking over ridges overlooking the treetops and climbing over steep rocks to reach the pinnacle of Karnala Fort. 

    Destination

    Karnala is located just 10 km away from Panvel, in the Raigad district of Maharashtra. The Karnala Fort is situated at the height of 1500 feet, and has become a popular trekking destination on account of its strange pinnacle and gorgeous location. From the top, you can see the thick jungle all around, as well as Prabalgad, Manikgad, and Chanderi fort. Karnala Fort lies within the Karnala bird sanctuary, which gives you the opportunity see over 200 species of colorful birds like, ashy minivet, three toed kingfisher, golden oriole, and many other exotic and migratory birds.

    Karnala Fort Trek Photos

    Board the train departing from CST at 05:47 hours for Panvel. You will reach Panvel by 07:00 hours and meet the operator there. Transfers to the base village of Karnala Fort trek will be arranged by the trek operator. Have tea and breakfast in the base village and begin trekking to the Karnala fort. You will be ascending through the thick jungle, watching colorful birds and walking over ridges to reach the fort. Please carry packed lunch from home which you can savor at the hill-top. Post-lunch, start descending and reach the base village in the afternoon. The operator will make the arrangements for transfers to Panvel railway station. You will reach the station by 15:00 hours. Your trip ends here. 

    Your trip ends by late afternoon.

    Breakfast and tea will be provided to you in the base village of Karnala Fort trek. Please remember to carry packed lunch with you. You will return to Panvel railway station by 16:00 hours.

    Cancellation policy

    For cancellations made 7 days or more before departure of the Karnala Fort trek: 85% refund.

    For cancellations made less than 7 days before departure of the Karnala Fort trek: No refund.

    No show: No refund.

    All refunds will be processed after deducting a transaction fee of INR 200 per person. This fee is charged by The Great Next.

    Rules on trip

    Travellers are required to adhere to the instructions of the trek leader during the trek to Karnala Fort.

    Travellers are requested to treat the local culture with respect and avoid littering, defacing property and monuments and causing general disturbance.

    Consumption of liquor, drugs, tobacco products and cigarettes is strictly prohibited during the trek to Karnala Fort.

    Additional instructions, booking policies, terms and conditions

    Travellers are requested to arrive at Panvel station by 07:00 hrs. Tardiness in reaching the pick-up point will lead to missing the trek.

    The tour operator takes utmost care to ensure safety of the travellers and shall not be held responsible for any mishap, accident or loss of life during the trek to Karnala Fort.

    Travellers will be required to bear any additional costs arising due to unforeseen circumstances such as bad weather, roadblocks, etc.
