    In this 3-day kayaking course, you'll learn to manage a kayak, the basic paddling and rescue skills, and get to do a couple of runs on Grade II+ rapids. You'll spend all day out on the river Ganges, learning your techniques on calmer stretches and testing yourself on the gushing rapids. Once you have a basic certification, you'll be able to join some of the more exciting expeditions on the bigger rivers, like the Zanskar or the Brahmaputra.

    This will not be a relaxed holiday, so do come prepared. You will be spending all day on the river, navigating the rapids and managing your kayak.

    NOTE: This trip does not include accommodation or food, so you'll have to make your own arrangements. Do remember to carry water bottles, some snacks or fruit, and a packed lunch for yourself.

    This is a fixed departure trip, but custom courses can be arranged at the same price for groups of 2 or more.

    Also known as the adventure hub of Uttarakhand, Rishikesh is the perfect place to learn kayaking. The river Ganges flows down from the Himalayas, through the foothills of the mountains, into the plains of India, creating churning rapids that offers some of the best rafting in India. You'll spend all day out on the pristine river, stopping at white sand beaches, floating through pine forest lined banks, and enjoying an outdoors experience.

  • Day 1 of Rishikesh kayaking course: Intro, paddling, turning, wet exit, Eskimo rescue

    You'll report to the kayaking school in Rishikesh by about 08:00 hrs. You'll be transferred to the rafting point, and will attend a short briefing session. This is to get you used to the kayaking equipment and safety gear. After this, you'll start with basic paddling and turning strokes in order to learn how to control and balance your kayak. You'll stop for lunch, and then proceed to a long boating session. You'll wrap up today's session learning how to execute a wet exit and do an eskimo rescue. After that, by late afternoon, you'll be dropped off to the school again. You're free to spend the rest of the day as you please.

    You'll be picked up from the kayaking centre in Rishikesh and dropped off to the kayaking start point. When your session for the day is done, you'll be brought back to the centre. No meals are provided, so do carry your own packed meals, snacks, water, and anything else you might need.

    For cancellations made 20 days or more before start date of the kayaking course: 75% refund.

    For cancellations made 10-20 days before start date of the kayaking course: 50% refund.

    For cancellations made 0-10 days before start date of the kayaking course: No refund.

    All refunds will be processed after deducting any transaction charges.

    Rules on trip

    Consumption of alcohol and drugs is strictly prohibited during the beginner's kayaking course in Rishikesh.

    Travellers are required to adhere to instructions of the kayaking instructor during the trip.

    Travellers are requested to treat the local culture with respect and avoid littering, defacing property and monuments and causing general disturbance.

    Additional instructions, booking policies, terms and conditions

    Travellers will be required to sign an indemnity form before beginning the kayaking course in Rishikesh.

    Travellers will be required to bear any additional costs arising due to unforeseen circumstances such as bad weather, road blocks etc.

    The tour operator takes utmost care to ensure safety of the travellers and shall not be held responsible for any mishap or accident during the beginner's kayaking course in Rishikesh.

    The operator reserves the right to cancel or alter the itinerary of the kayaking course depending upon the weather conditions and other factors. If extra costs are incurred due to changes in the itinerary, they will be borne by the traveller.
