Kedarkantha Trek

Kedarkantha is one of the most scenic and popular summit treks in India which can be explored by beginners as well. Although the trek to Kedarkantha summit is open throughout the year, climbing here during winter is most rewarding as you will come across several beautiful clearings which are filled with thick layers of snow and surrounded by lush pine trees. On this trek, you will be camping at some of the most gorgeous settings, including Juda ka Talab, which is frozen in winter. The final walk to the Kedarkantha peak involves walking over a ridge carpeted with thick snow during winter months. In summer, reaching the summit involves trekking through verdant meadows, fragrant pine and oak forests, and watching exotic birds and wildflowers along the way.

Please note that you can choose to begin this trip from Dehradun at an additional cost of INR 2500 per person.

Destination

The view from Kedarkanth peak, located at an altitude of 12,600 feet, is thrilling as you can see snow-covered Himalayan ranges all around you. To the north, you will see Swargarohini, Black Peak, Bandarpoonch of the Gangotri and Yamunotri ranges. You can also see Har ki Dun valley below the summit, and watch Rupin valley making its way to Himachal Pradesh on your west. The trek to Kedarkantha begins with a drive from Dehradun to Sankri, which is a pleasant drive through the winding roads of Mussoorie, and driving alongside rivers at Nowgaon and Purola. Throughout the trek, you will be staying in tents at beautiful campsites like Juda ka Talab, Kedarkantha base and Hargaon.
