About Kodachadri

Kodachadri is Karnataka's 13th highest peak at 4,406 feet in the Mookambika National Park, a biodiversity hotspot, in the Western Ghats. It is a barren peak surrounded by dense shola forests and forms the backdrop of the well-known Mookambika Temple. The peak is declared as a natural heritage site and is a popular destination for nature lovers, trekkers and bird-watchers alike.

Kodachadri derives its name from a combination of one native word and a Sanskrit work. The native word being 'Koda,' meaning kutuja or jasmine flower, and the Sanskrit word begin 'ardi' which stands for mountain. Hence, literally, the name 'Kodachadri' stands for 'the Mountain of Jasmine.'
