This 3-day trek to Kodachadri is perfect for those looking for a weekend getaway near Bangalore. It is a moderately difficult trek through the dense tropical forest of Karnataka and has a steep incline. This thrilling trek lets you explore the Mookambika Wildlife Sanctuary and trek to the Kodachadri peak, from where you can sometimes see clouds below the peak. You will spend a night in a cosy homestay, go on an off-road jeep drive through dense forest, visit the sunset point and also the Hidlumane Waterfalls. You will also make a short halt at Nagara Fort which was built in the eighteenth century.
The Kodachadri Peak is the tenth highest peak of Karnataka, located in Shimoga district in the Mookambika Wildlife Sanctuary. The peak is located at an altitude of 4406 feet above sea level. The landscape here resembles the famous Amazonian rainforests, and has a rich biodiversity, including some wild animals like tiger, leopard, deer, etc. This trek lets you explore this rich biodiversity and the lush landscape of this protected sanctuary.
