    This trek to Kothaligad takes you through rich greenery layered on top of towering mountains of the Western Ghats. As you approach the fort, you'll climb over 510 stairs built to access the fort. From the top of the fort, you'll catch great views of the surrounding forts of Siddhagad, Malanggad and Prabalgad. You'll also explore the old ruins of Kothaligad such as ancient cannons, temples and caves decorated with scriptures and artwork.

    Perfect for adventure enthusiasts planning a weekend getaway, this trek takes you on a relatively easy trail that is perfect for fit beginners as well as experienced trekkers.

    Please note that this trip does not include lunch. Travellers may bring a packed lunch with them.

    Destination

    Located close to Karjat, near the Karjat-Murbad Road, the fort of Kothaligad is also known as the Peth Fort since it is situated so close to the village of Peth. Placed at an elevation of 3,100 feet, the fort also used to function as a watchtower. The fort is built atop a flat plateau accessible by stairs.

  • Trek to Kothaligad!

    Arrive at the Karjat railway station by 08:15 hrs. You'll meet your fellow trekkers here and board private vehicles that will take you to the base village of Ambiwadi. After breakfast, you'll begin trekking towards the pinnacle of Kothaligad. Reach the top and take some time to explore the old ruins of the fort. If you've brought a packed lunch (not included in the package), you can eat lunch at the fort.

    Begin descending to the base village in the afternoon. You'll arrive at Ambiwadi, where you'll have some evening snacks before travelling back to Karjat. You'll arrive at the Karjat railway station by 19:00 hrs. Your trip ends here.

    Arrive at the Karjat railway station by 08:15 hrs. Travel to the base village of Ambiwadi will be arranged in shared, private vehicles. Today's meal package includes breakfast and evening snacks. You may want to bring a packed lunch, since this is not included in the meal package. Your trip ends at the Karjat railway station by 19:00 hrs.

    For cancellations made 5-10 days before departure of the Kothaligad trek: 50% refund.

    For cancellations made 0-5 days before departure of the Kothaligad trek: No refund.

    All refunds will be processed after deducting any transaction charges.

    Rules on trip

    Travellers are required to adhere to the instructions of the trek leader during the trek to Kothaligad.

    Travellers are requested to treat the local culture with respect and avoid littering, defacing property and monuments and causing general disturbance.

    Consumption of liquor, drugs, tobacco products and cigarettes is strictly prohibited during the trek to Kothaligad.

    Travellers will be required to bear any additional costs arising due to unforeseen circumstances such as bad weather, road blocks etc.
