    Fresh mountain air. Snowy trails. Wide open spaces. 360 degree views extending from the Tibet border, encompassing the entire Garhwali Himalayan range. Sounds like heaven right? Go on the Kuari Pass Trek in winter, and that’s exactly where you feel like you’re going!

    Being one of the few trekking destinations that are open in the winter, this is a popular end-of-the-year trek. But it’s also the spectacular views that make this so famous. As trekkers walk through lush fields, forests and remote villages, they are rewarded with enchanting views all around of the Chaukhamba Range to one side while the summits of Mana, Kamet and Abl Gamin extend on the other side all the way to the Tibet border.

    This winter trek to Kuari Pass traverses through green meadows, dense forests, remote villages, gushing rivers and snow-capped mountains to give trekkers a trip of a lifetime.

    Located in Chamoli district, Kuari, which means 'doorway' in the local language, lies south of the Tibet border and on the western edge of the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve. It is surrounded on all sides by imposing ranges that include the Kamet, which extends up to a dizzying height of 7756 metres as well as the snowcapped ranges extending all the way to Gangotri.

  • Day 1 of the Kuari Pass trek: Haridwar to Joshimath

    You will be driven from Haridwar to Joshimath today. The drive takes about 10 hours, so you'll leave early in the morning. At Joshimath, you'll check into a guesthouse to get a good night's sleep.

    Overnight stay in a guesthouse at Joshimath.

    On reaching Joshimath, you’ll check into the guest house. Do get a good night’s sleep to begin the next day afresh.

    For cancellations made 24 days or more before departure of the winter trek to Kuari Pass: 95% of trek cost will be refunded.

    For cancellations made between 14-24 days before departure of the winter trek to Kuari Pass: 70% of trek/tour cost will be refunded.

    For cancellations made between 8-14 days before departure of the winter trek to Kuari Pass: 50% of trek/tour cost will be refunded.

    For cancellations made less than 7 days before departure of the winter trek to Kuari Pass: No refund.

    No show: No refund.

    All refund amounts will be processed after deducting any transaction charges.

    Rules on trip

    Participants must adhere to the instructions of the team leader during the winter trek to Kuari Pass.

    Smoking, consumption of alcohol, narcotic drugs etc. is strictly prohibited on the Kuari Pass trek.

    Additional instructions, booking policies, terms and conditions

    The operator reserves the right to change the itinerary of the Kuari Pass trek depending upon the weather conditions and other factors. If extra cost is incurred due to rescheduling, it will be borne by the trekker.

    Please note that sometimes an unforeseen event may force changes in the itinerary of the winter trek to Kuari Pass. In such cases, your trek leader will suggest the best alternative similar to your original itinerary.

    All the arrangements for the Kuari Pass trek are pre-planned and prepaid. In case of non completion of the Kuari Pass trek due to any reason whatsoever there will not be any refund for any unutilized services. Any extra expense due any alteration has to be paid extra.
