Trekking
This is a paragraph with little content.

This is another small paragraph.

  • Trip introduction

The Kuari Pass trek is one of the most gorgeous treks in the Himalayas, and is suitable for fit beginners looking for a bit of a challenge. However, with Pangarchulla Peak added on to the itinerary, you'll find an element of thrill too. Getting to the peak involves waking up early, in the dark hours of the morning. You'll trek through the dark forests as the sun rises slowly from behind the peaks. As the sky grows brighter, you'll see Pangarchulla Peak ahead of you. You'll never forget seeing the morning sun turning the Himalayas gold. nding elements.

    Destination

This 6-day trek through Kuari Pass and Pangarchulla Peak gets progressively challenging, as you go along, and you'll end with a couple of days of steep climbing. The third day of the trek is one of the toughest, when you'll climb a steep slope through oak and rhododendron forests to get to Khulara camp. This is at an elevation of 11,122 feet. On the fourth day, you'll get to the highest point of your trek, at a height of 14,700 feet. You'll need all your stamina for this part of the trek.

Thanks to the height gain, you can expect to see views that few other treks can offer: rose-gold dawn skies in the mountains, rivers cascading down from the distant heights, and iconic peaks like Nanda Devi, Dronagiri, Neelkanth, Chaukhambha and more.

    Destination highlights

    • Combine the thrill of a mountain pass and a peak climb
    • Trek through challenging terrain with snow-clad mountains towering overhead
    • Trek through the dawn on peak day
    • Enjoy the camaraderie that only a peak attempt brings

  • Day 1 of the Kuari Pass trek: Haridwar to Joshimath

Do report to Haridwar Railway Station on time, as you'll need to hit the road early. Your operator will be waiting for you at 06:30 a.m. You'll be driven to Joshimath, which is a long, scenic drive past green gushing rivers. You'll get to Joshimath in time for tea. Once you've settled in, you'll be briefed about the trek, and then a hot dinner will be served. Overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 2 of the Kuari Pass trek: Trek to Gulling Top

You'll have a short drive of about 12 kms to the Dhak village, the start point of the trek. After this, the fun begins. You'll trek though oak and rhodendron forests on an easy trail. It's not a long trek today, just enough to get you warmed up. You'll be camping in a big meadow in tents tonight.

Day 3 of the Kuari Pass trek: Trek to Khulara

Today is quite a challenging climb. You'll go from 9600 feet to 11,100 feet, trekking on steep slopes covered with oak and walnut trees. The pinks and whites of blossoming rhodendron trees makes this a beautiful walk, though, and you'll be stopping to take pictures very often. Go to bed early tonight, because you'll have a very early start tomorrow. Overnight in tents at Khulara campsite.

Day 4 of the Kuari Pass trek: Kuari Pass and Pangarchulla Peak

It's peak day today! You'll wake up early, while it's still dark. After a good breakfast, you'll begin your trek through forests. The trail opens up to meadows, and soon you'll get to Kuari Pass as the day dawns. You'll spend some time here, and then set off to conquer the peak. The climb isn't technical, and should not require any roping up, but you will have to scramble over boulders and scree. At the peak, you'll get glorious views of huge peaks all around. Take some pictures, and then it's time to head back to your campsite. Overnight in tents.

Day 5 of the Kuari Pass trek: Return to Joshimath

Today you'll begin your descent to Joshimath. It's a long way, but it's all downhill ,so you can expect to make pretty good time. You'll also feel more energetic as you leave behind the thin air of 11,000 feet and descend to the more comfortable altitude of 6000 feet. You'll board vehicles at Dhak village, and will be driven to the guesthouse in Joshimath, where you'll be happy to sleep in a bed again. Overnight here.

Day 6 of the Kuari Pass trek: Return to Haridwar

Today is an easy, long drive back to Haridwar, where you can rest your legs, admire the views, or catch up on some sleep. You'll be dropped off at Haridwar by around 20:00 hrs. It's advisable to book any onward journey for the next day, in case of delays on this drive. Trip ends in Haridwar.
