  • Trip introduction

    The Kumta-Gokarna beach trek is a beautiful journey that takes you to the coastal regions of Karnataka as you trek across a plethora of beautiful beaches, tiny hillocks and small fishing villages.

    Stretching over 2 days (4 days with transport) this journey takes you through 10 spectacular beaches that come in different shapes and sizes with varied landscapes. Some beaches such as the Half-Moon and Om beaches are actually named so after their shape!

    Besides trekking you’ll spend your days sinking your feet into the soft beach sand, catching waves, witnessing golden sunsets and imbibing breathtaking views of surrounding mountains and cliffs. On the night of Day 2, you’ll even enjoy the fun of camping on the Belekan beach, combined with the thrill of embarking on a late night walk!

    Full of fun and gorgeous sceneries coupled with a non strenuous trail – this trek is ideal for adventure lovers, nature lovers or anyone who is looking to explore the coastal side of Karnataka.

    Destination

    Located on the coastline of the Arabian Sea, Kumta is a beautiful town that is known for its beaches that are mainly characterized by black rocks, sprawling greenery and surrounding cliffs. During this trip you’ll start off with your trek from the Kumta Beach and hike through the Vannalli, Kadle, Guddeangadi and Nirvana Beach. You’ll end your day at the peaceful Belekan Beach for a night of camping.

    The next trekking day of your journey encompasses trekking through Paradise, Small Hell, Half-Moon, Om and Kadle Beach before reaching the much awaiting Gokarna Beach.

    The Gokarna region is known or its Shiva Temple which is also known as the Mahabhaleshwara. From the Gokarna Beach you’ll be transferred to the Gokarna Station to catch your train back home.

    Although both the Kumta and Gokarna beaches lie in different towns, they both lie within the serene Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka.

    Participants must adhere to the instructions of the trip leader/guide at all times during this Kumta-Gokarna beach trek.

    Consumption of alcoholic beverages/drugs/smoking is not permitted during the Kumta-Gokarna beach trek.

    Littering or any damage to natural habitats is strictly forbidden during the Kumta-Gokarna beach trek.

    Participants must be on their best behavior during the Kumta-Gokarna beach trek.

    Travellers are requested not to carry or apply any deos/perfumes during the Kumta-Gokarna beach trek.

    Cancellation policy

    For cancellation made 20 days before the departure of the Kumta-Gokarna beach trek: 70% refund.

    For cancellation made 10 days before the departure of the Kumta-Gokarna beach trek: 50% refund.

    For cancellations made 7 days before the departure of the Kumta-Gokarna beach trek: 30% refund.

    For cancellations made beyong 7 days before the departure of the Kumta-Gokarna beach trek: No refund.

    No show: No refund.

    All cancellations/refunds on this trip will be processed after a deduction of INR 200 per person. This fee is charged by The Great Next and is applicable for all cancellations.

    Additional instructions, booking policies, terms and conditions

    The pick-up time for the Kumta-Gokarna beach trek is 21:30 hrs from CST in Mumbai and the drop-off times are at 05:54 hrs at the Thane Station and 06:35 hrs at the LTT Station.

    Any additional expenses that occur due to unforseen circumstances during this Kumta-Gokarna beach trek have to be borne by the participant.

    In case of any loss, damage, accident or death that occurs during the Kumta-Gokarna beach trek, the operator cannot be held responsible.

    The operator reserves the right to change/deviate/cancel the itinerary of the Kumta-Gokarna beach trek without any prior notice incase of accidents or natural calamities.

    During the Kumta-Gokarna beach trek all members are responsible for their own belongings.

  • Day 1 of the Kumta-Gokarna beach trek: Departure from Mumbai

    Arrive at CST Railway Station in Mumbai by 21:30 hrs today and board the 12133/Mangalore Superfast Express overnight train. Relax in your seat and spend the night in this ac train.

    Day 2 of the Kumta-Gokarna beach trek: Arrival in Kumta and 5 beach trek

    Reach Kumta early today and once you get off the train head to a restaurant near the station for breakfast by 09:00 hrs. Post breakfast you'll catch a bus to the Kumta Beach from where you'll begin your trek. You'll start with a refreshing hike through a number of beautiful beaches, namely the Vannalli Beach, the Kadle Beach, the Guddeangadi Beach and the Nirvana Beach where you'll stop for a while to feast on a packed lunch. You'll then catch a bus to Afghani River and then a ferry to Belekan beach. There, you'll set freshen up and set up camp.

    Day 3 of the Kumta-Gokarna beach trek: Trek from Kumta to the Gokarna Beach and departure

    You'll begin your trek towards Gokarna. This trek route entails traveling through the Paradise Beach, Small Beach, Half Moon Beach and Om Beach. By noon, you'll reach Kadle Beach where you'll break to enjoy lunch. Post lunch you'll trail towards the last stop of this trip: Gokarna Beach. Once you reach, spend some time on the shore and sink your feet into its soft sand. By 17:30 proceed towards the Gokarna Road Station and from there you'll catch the 18:38 hrs 12620/Matsyagandha Express towards Mumbai. You'll spend the night in the train.

  • Day 1 of the Kumta-Gokarna beach trek: Departure from Mumbai

    Overnight in train.

    The meeting point for the Kumta-Gokarna beach trek is at CST in Mumbai at 09:30 hrs. From here you'll board the 12133/Mangalore Superfast Express overnight train. No meals are provided today, so do eat a filling dinner before you leave. You'll spend the night in the train. Carry a shawl to keep yourself comfortable.

    Day 2 of the Kumta-Gokarna beach trek: Arrival in Kumta and 5 beach trek

    Overnight in tents.

    You'll reach Kumta by 08:30 hrs in the morning. Today's package includes a hot breakfast at a restaurant near the station; a packed lunch at the Nirvana Beach and a hot dinner at Belekan Beach. After trekking for the whole day you'll set up your camp at the Belekan Beach. While you'll be provided with tents, you'll have to bring your own bedding such as sleeping bags, mats, bedhseets and shawls.

    Day 3 of the Kumta-Gokarna beach trek: Trek from Kumta to the Gokarna Beach and departure

    Overnight in train.

    You'll wake up by 06:00 hrs today for breakfast and freshening up. Besides breakfast your package also includes a delicious lunch at the Kadle Beach. By 17:30 hrs you'll move towards the Gokarna Station from where you'll catch the 18:38 hrs 12620/Matsygandha Express towards Mumbai. No dinner is provided today, however you can always parcel something from the station or buy something on the train itself. You'll spend the night in the train.

    Your trip ends before nightfall.
