Just a few hours outside of the hustle and bustle of the urban chaos you will be able to venture into the wild and the rocky terrains for a quick adventure trip.

You could plan a weekend office offsite trip for team building activities or take a thrillingly romantic night trek for a great sunrise view. Your college gang of mischief makers can go for a fun weekend trip or as a solo trekker one can experience a night trek with campfire stories.

The Kunti Betta Trek is a must visit destination for the thrill seekers even if you are a complete novice or a first time trekker as it promises to deliver a unique terrain and a good challenge to experienced trekkers as well.

Kunti Betta is located just a few hours’ drive away from Bangalore at a distance of about 130 km and situated closer to the city of Mysore around 30 km away. It is just 3 km from Pandava-Pura. It is a one day trekking experience and can be done either during the day or can be an overnight experience. The night trek lets you enjoy a panoramic sunrise view at the break of dawn from an altitude of roughly 3,000 ft. You can also visit the Thonnur Lake on your way which is a perfect backdrop for some memorable photography.

You will be picked up and dropped back from the city and the meal arrangements during the trek will also be included. You will be trekking across open fields and soon enough climbing over massive boulders and navigating your way around tricky sections over rocky terrain to finally make it to the summit.

The day trek lets you experience the stunning sunset at the Thonnur Kere Lake while the night trek lets you in on a spectacular view of the sunrise and the vast open plains and grasslands surrounding the peak from an altitude of 2,882 ft. The night trek also lets you enjoy a lovely story telling time around the campfire before dawn.

Kunti Betta is a twin set of hilltops and got the name from the Hindu mythological epic story called the Mahabharata where five powerful brothers called the Pandavas stayed here during their exile along with their Mother Kunti. It is named after their Mother, Kunti who was one of the two wives of King Pandu of Hastinapur.

It is believed that during their exile, Kunti Betta was Kunti’s favourite hangout spot and the vessel shaped rocks found there along with the pond at the top known as Kunti Kola was used by Kunti for cooking. Legend also says that Bheema, one of the Pandava brothers killed the demon Bakasur who was terrorising the local King and his followers. He slayed the demon here on one of the hillocks around Kunti Betta under Kunti’s command.

A large footprint on the rocks claims to be evidence of the myth and Bheema’s existence. There are few historic temples dating back more than a thousand years at the foothills and the hilltops. Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple is a notable one.
