Rev up your powerful Royal Enfield 500cc motorbikes for this 12-day expedition across the cold deserts of Ladakh. With a gang of daredevil bikers, your ride begins from the gorgeous hill station of Manali. You'll ride alongside the gushing rivers of Chenab and Shyok, traverse the winding Gata Loops and visit the magnificent Pangong Lake. Every day, you'll cross high altitude mountain passes, including the Khardung-La, one of the highest mountain passes in the world. You'll also visit Batalik, the main battleground of the 1999 Kargil War and experience the peculiar culture of the ethnic Dardic natives.

On this 12-day expedition, you'll ride Royal Enfield motorbikes across the landscape of khaki-colored valleys, snow-capped mountains and sprawling cold deserts. You'll visit picturesque monasteries and get acquainted with the enchanting Ladakhi culture. Traverse Khardung-La, visit the Pangong Lake, see the sand dunes of Hunder, step inside the Diksit monastery and see majestic rivers gushing incessantly along your way. Your ride will begin from Manali and terminate at Sonmarg. Every day, you'll stay at comfortable hotels or Swiss tents in the destinations that you visit.

Today, your motorbiking tour begins with a ride from Manali to Jispa. After an early morning start, you'll test ride your Royal Enfield motorbikes in Manali and head north from the city. Shortly after beginning, you will find yourself riding through the high altitude Rohtang pass. You'll be riding alongside the rough Chenab River to reach Jispa. Overnight in a hotel at Jispa.

Ride from Manali to Jispa. You'll be accommodated in Swiss tents at Jispa. All accommodation will be on a double or triple sharing basis. Today's meal package includes breakfast and dinner only.

Today, you will advance from Jispa to Sarchu. You will ride across another high altitude pass, the Baralacha-La. En route, stop by Zing Zing Bar to grab a cup of hot tea and admire views of the dramatic landscape. After reaching Sarchu, you'll enjoy the evening around a campfire with the chilly winds of the night. Overnight in Swiss tents at Sarchu.

Ride from Jispa to Sarchu. You'll be accommodated in Swiss tents at Sarchu. Today's meal package includes breakfast and dinner only. Every day, you'll stop at a restaurant or eatery enroute to your destination, where you can have lunch at your own expense.

Today, you'll ride approximately 230 kms and cross state borders to enter Jammu and Kashmir. Your destination is the Tso Moriri, a teal blue lake flanked by the barren landscapes of Ladakh. On the way to Tso Moriri, you'll stop by the Tso Kar lake, ride over the winding roads of the Gata Loops and cross the two high passes of Nakee-La and Lachung-La. Overnight in Swiss tents at Tso Moriri.

Overnight in Wild Camps or similar.

Ride from Sarchu to Tsomoriri. You may be issued an equally reliable, Ladakh-registered motorbike for riding in Jammu and Kashmir. You'll stay in Swiss tents at Tso Moriri. Today's meal package includes breakfast and dinner only.

Your next stop is the spell-binding Pangong Lake. To reach the lake, you'll ride through a recently opened route with two small lakes on your way, the Yaye Tso and the Mirpal Tso. After a brief halt at the Chushul village, you'll continue onward to explore a few other tiny lakes and the Maan and Merak villages. Overnight in Swiss tents at the Pangong Lake.

Overnight in Ladakh Horizon or Regan or similar.

Ride from Tso Moriri to Pangong. Please follow proper acclimatization measures, as instructed by your road captain, in preparation of your travel to higher altitudes. You'll stay in Swiss tents at the Pangong Lake. Today's meal package includes breakfast and dinner only.

In the morning, you'll visit the area of Pangong Lake where the climax of popular Bollywood moive, 3 Idiots was filmed. You'll then proceed to the Nubra Valley through an offbeat route alongside the Shyok River. You'll reach the valley in the evening. Here, visit the lanscape full of beige-colored sand dunes, where you can saddle up a double-humped camel to explore the wide terrain. Overnight in a guesthouse or Swiss tents at Hunder.

Ride from the Pangong Lake to Nubra Valley. You'll stay in Swiss tents or a hotel in Hunder, a small village in Nubra Valley. Today's meal package includes breakfast and dinner only.

Take a detour to visit the Diksit Monastery, the largest monastery in Ladakh. You'll then proceed to Leh traversing one of the highest motorable passes in the world, the Khardung-La, at a staggering altitude of 17,582 feet. You'll reach Leh by evening. Overnight in a hotel at Leh.

Ride from the Nubra Valley to Leh. A support vehicle driven by a mechanic will follow your entourage throughout the trip. You'll be accommodated in a hotel at Leh. Today's meal package includes breakfast and dinner only.

You can spend your day at leisure today. Take a break from riding and explore the idyllic town of Leh with your fellow travellers. Visit a few popular tourist destinations such as the Shanti Stupa, Leh Palace or the Shey Palace at Leh. Return back to the hotel by evening and rest for tomorrow's thrilling ride. Overnight in a hotel at Leh.

Ride towards Batalik, the prominent region in the 1999 Kargil War. En route, you will halt at the villages of Dha and Hanu to visit the ethnic Dardic natives. Unique in their appearance, the locals often wear attire embellished with jewellery and colorful flowers. You will also stop by the confluence of the Indus and Zanskar rivers, ride across the Magnetic Hill and visit Gurudwara Pather Sahib. Overnight in a guesthouse at Batalik.

Ride from Leh to Batalik. A road captain riding on a motorbike will lead your entourage throughout the trip. You'll stay in Swiss tent or a hotel at Batalik. Today's meal package includes breakfast and dinner only.

It's your last day of the motorbiking expedition. Leave for Sonmarg in the morning via Kargil. You will cross the famous Zoji-La pass and the snow-laden Dras village. View a few of the famous peaks of the region, including the Tiger peak and the Tololing peak. Overnight in a hotel at Sonmarg.

Cancellation policy

If the tour operator cancels this Ladakh motorbiking trip on the scheduled departure date due to any unavoidable circumstances, then you'll either be offered a spot in the next scheduled departure date or a 100% refund will be provided.

If you cancel this Ladakh motorbiking trip at any day after the booking: no refund.

In case of no show: no refund.

All refunds will be processed after deducting a transaction fee of INR 200 per person. This fee is charged by The Great Next.

Rules on trip

Travellers will be required to pay a refundable, security deposit of INR 10,000 per motorbike. Any major damage or loss to the motorbike and use of any spare parts will be deducted from the security deposit. This deposit is payable directly to the tour operator and any disputes involving the deposit will be settled between the tour operator and the traveller.

Travellers are required to follow all instructions of the road captain during the Ladakh motorbiking trip.

Consumption of alcohol and drugs is strictly prohibited during the trip. Travellers suspected of intoxication will not be allowed to participate in the trip.

Travellers are required to carry a valid, govt-issued photo ID card and a valid driver's licence.

Travellers are requested to treat the local culture with respect and avoid littering, defacing property and monuments and causing general disturbance.

Additional instructions, booking policies, terms and conditions

All prices displayed are for travellers with an Indian citizenship. Foreign nationals will be charged a premium to account for the additional cost of obtaining special Inner Line permits from the government.

Travellers are allowed to bring their own motorbike on this Ladakh motorbiking trip. In such cases, the price of the trip will not include safety helmets and fuel. Please ensure that your motorbike is registered to the rider's name and all documents (pollution check, insurance, driver's licence etc) are in order.

The departure date and itinerary of this Ladakh motorbiking trip is subject to change on account of any unavoidable circumstances like landslides, flight cancellations or weather conditions.

The tour operator reserves the right to alter the trip cost in case there is an unprecedented hike in the price of petrol.
