Delhi-Manali-Leh-Srinagar-Delhi Ride

This Leh motorcycling trip takes you from the flat lands of Delhi, up into the green valleys of Manali, through the stark and dramatic landscapes of Leh, and all the way to the paradise that is Srinagar. You'll ride with a group of like-minded bikers, fully supported by a team of mechanics, biker guides, and staff. During the day, you'll see spectacular snow-capped mountains, cross streams of melting glacier water, and thunder through roads that lead through pine forests. At night, you'll camp in comfortable tents or stay in hotels.

PRICE VARIATION: The price displayed is for two travellers per motorcylce (rider plus pillion) on 350cc motorcycle. Please check the fine print section below to view prices for other possible combinations.

NOTE: There is a refundable security deposit of INR 15,000-20,000 (depending on the bike model that you choose). This cost is not included in this package and will be paid directly to the operator.

Destination

The Leh motorcycling trip ride begins from Delhi, and takes you through the fields of Chandigarh, and up to Manali. As you pass through the forests and orchards around Kullu and Manali, the landscape begins to change. You'll climb to the high altitude Rohtang Pass, and then drive into Sarchu. This is the highest point of the ride, and you will need to carefully follow instructions to acclimatise. From here, you'll ride into the gorgeous state of Jammu Kashmir, crossing many passes like Nakeela Pass and Tanglang La. You'll spend a day in Leh, and then head onwards to Pangong Lake, Nubra Valley, and onwards to Kargil. You'll ride onwards to Srinagar, passing Drass and Sonmarg. After a stay at Srinagar in a houseboat, you'll return to Delhi via Pathankot.

You'll start the day with a briefing, which is important for those who were not present the previous day, but may cover some important points again. After that, you'll get your bikes and will be able to try them out on the road to Chandigarh. You'll drive past beautiful fields, stop at a dhaba for a delicious meal, and finally arrive in Chandigarh by late afternoon. Check into your hotel for the night or head out to explore the beautiful city.

You'll ride from Delhi to Chandigarh today. For breakfast you will halt at a roadside dhaba to eat authentic Punjabi food. You'll check into a hotel room with attached Western washroom. All accommodation is usually on twin-sharing basis, unless the total group size is in odd numbers.

Today you will drive from Chandigarh to Manali, passing the gigantic Pando Dam. From Kullu, find your road running almost parallel to the river Beas. Once in Manali, explore the city before checking into your hotel for the night.

Today you will drive from Jispa to Sarchu Plains, crossing the Baralacha La Pass. Sarchu is the highest point of your trip, and you should pay close attention to the instructions of your guide to make sure you acclimatise well and avoid discomfort. You'll camp in tents at night.

Today you will cross over from Himachal Pradesh to Jammu and Kashmir as you drive to Leh. You'll take on the challenge of Nakeela Pass, Lachulungla Pass and Thanglang La, and then have the easy ride through 50 kms of the Great Gyanchuthang Plains. If you have time, you'll stop at Thiksey monastery outside Leh. Once in Leh, you'll spend your night in a hotel or tents.

Sarchu Plains

Today you'll take on the world’s highest motorable road to Khardung La. This is the old Silk Route, and leads to Siachen Glacier. Once you're over the pass, you'll enter Nubra Valley. This is a high altitude cold desert, with sand dunes and double-hump Siberian camels, as well as some patches of greenery with peach trees. Overnight in hotel.

Today is one of the best days of your ride, as you'll be visiting Pangong Lake, crossing Chang La Pass on the way. Pangong Lake is one of the highest natural salt lakes, and is a stunning blue colour. You'll spend the night in tents by the lake, so you'll be able to see it in all the colours. Overnight in tents.

Today you head back to Leh, stopping en route to see the Lotus Valley school where the Bollywood movie '3 Idiots' was shot. You'll check in to a hotel or campsite in Leh, where you should take it easy.

Today you will head out to Kargil, stopping en route at the Pathar Sahib Gurudwara, Alchi monastery, and Lamayuru monastrey. You'll also go through the Fotula and Namkila Passes and the villages of Mulbek and Chamba. Overnight in tents in Kargil.

Today you will drive from Kargil to Sringar, with a halt at the War Museum, in memory of the brave soldiers during the Kargil war. Then you will cross Drass, the second coldest inhabited place in the world. After that you'll go through Zojila Pass and Sonmarg before reaching Srinagar. After riding through cold dry mountains, Srinagar’s greenery will prove to a pleasant change of scenery. Overnight at hotel or houseboat in Srinagar.

Cancellation policy

For cancellations made 60 days or more before departure of the Leh motorcycling ride: 100% refund.

For cancellations made 45-59 days before departure of the Leh motorcycling ride: 75% refund.

For cancellations made 30-44 days before departure of the Leh motorcycling ride: 50% refund.

For cancellations made 0-29 days before departure of the Leh motorcycling ride: No refund.

No shows: No refund.

All refunds will be processed after deducting any transaction charges, plus a deduction of INR 2,100 towards administration charges.

Any unused inclusions will not be refunded.

Rules on trip

Price variation - one traveller per motorcycle (no pillion) on 350cc motorcycle: INR 54,600 per person, one traveller per motorcycle (no pillion) on 500cc motorcycle: INR 61,400 per person, two travellers per motorcycle (rider plus pillion) on 500cc motorcycle: INR 46,400, seat in backup vehicle (no motorcycle): INR 39,900.

Travellers are required to wear a helmet at all times while riding on the motorcycle.

Travellers are required to carry a valid photo ID and driver's licence.

Travellers are required to adhere to instructions of the road captain during the Leh motorcycling ride.

Travellers are requested to treat the local culture with respect and avoid littering, defacing property and monuments and causing general disturbance.

Consumption of liquor and drugs is strictly prohibited before or during the motorcycle ride.

Travellers getting their own motorcycle must ensure that the vehicle is registered to the rider's name and all the relevant documents (pollution check, insurance and driver's licence etc) are in order.

Additional instructions, booking policies, terms and conditions

Any major damage to the bike and loss/use of any spare part will be deducted from the refundable security deposit.

The refundable security deposit will be payable directly to the tour operator. Any disputes involving the deposit will be settled between the tour operator and the traveller.

Travellers will be required to bear any additional costs arising due to unforeseen circumstances such as bad weather, road blocks etc.

The tour operator takes utmost care to ensure safety of the travellers and shall not be held responsible for any mishap or accident during the Leh motorcycling trip.
