Manali-Leh motorbiking (11 days)

Embark on this 10-day motorbiking adventure and explore the cold, desert kingdom of Ladakh on powerful Royal Enfield motorbikes. Accompanied by an entourage of like-minded motorbikers, you'll follow an expert road captain to visit secluded destinations, from the sand dunes of Hunder to the rolling mountains of Sarchu. During the day, you'll thunder across national highways and off-beat roads, with dramatic views of snow-capped peaks and barren mountains on all sides. En route, you'll halt to visit landmarks like the Shanti Stupa or monasteries like the Diskit Monastery, making memories to last a lifetime.

Please note that price displayed is the per person price for a booking for two persons on one bike (one rider and one pillion rider), including fuel. For a solo rider, the cost will be INR 45,000, including fuel and GST.

Please note that an additional refundable, security deposit of INR 5,000 per motorbike, not included in the cost displayed, is to be paid directly to the tour operator.

Your 10-day adventure across Ladakh begins from the rich and green valleys of Manali. With every passing day, you'll travel north towards Ladakh, travelling over twisting roads and high altitude passes, postcard views of rolling hills in view. Soon, you'll find yourself surrounded by the high-rising mountains of Ladakh, painted with differing shades of brown and grey. Throughout the journey, you'll be mesmerized with views of dominating mountains on the horizon with snow-capped summits extending far above the clouds. After exploring the city of Leh and the Ladakh range, you'll end your tour at Leh with memories of an unforgettable adventure.

Reach Manali and check-in to a hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Today, you'll meet your road captain and your fellow travellers. A short briefing will be conducted by the captain to cover essential details about your upcoming ride. In the evening, you can test ride your motorbikes in the streets of Manali and visit local attractions like the Vashisht Temple and the Manali Mall Road.

Leaving behind the lush, green valleys of Manali, you'll begin your Ladakh motorbiking adventure and enter the barren, brown landscapes of the desert kingdom. En route, you'll cross the Rohtang Pass, a major mountain pass that often experiences major snowstorms in the winter season. Scenes of snow-capped mountains peaks will begin popping up over the horizon as you navigate tricky road sections and rest at vantage points.

Overnight in a hotel or Swiss tents at Jispa.

Spend the day at Manali. You'll be accommodated at a hotel in Manali. All accommodation will be in twin or triple sharing rooms. Today's meal package includes dinner only.

Today, you begin your journey to the town of Padum in Zanskar, via the long Shango La Pass. The ride today is difficult, on a newly opened route with some rugged patches and river crossing, but you'll be greeted by stunning views of the Mahakal peak and a sprawling mountainscape. You can choose to hike to a hidden monastery at Phuktal Gompa. You'll spend the night at Padum.

Another challenging day awaits you as you make your way to the war memorial town of Kargil. The road is, again, relatively new, with loads of fun for off-road lovers. The off-road connexcts to the Leh-Srinagar highway that gives you a smooth ride.

Your ride from Kargil to Leh will be one of the most fun highlights of the trip. Today, you get to cross two high altitude passes, Mulbek, a giant Buddha rock sculpture, Lamyuru, one of Ladakh's oldest monasteries famous for its surrounding moon-like terrain, and get to take in the views of the Magnetic Hills. You'll reach leh by evening.

On today's ride from Leh to Nubra Valley, you'll take on the adventure of riding over the world's highest motorable mountain pass at the Khardung-La. At an altitude of over 18,000 feet, stop to take in scenes of the snow-laden landscape from the pass. You'll cross Khardung-La and enter the Nubra Valley, a high-altitude cold desert known for the sand dunes and double-humped camels. Subject to time constraints, you'll also visit the nearby Diskit Monastery.

One of the most adventurous of all days, today will see you taking off-beat, rocky, narrow mountain roads to the Pangong Lake. The astounding beauty of the lake, flanked by towering mountains on all sides, stands out as soon as you arrive. The colours of the water change shades of blue and green as the sun begins to set in the evening. At night, look up at the dark sky, twinkling with a thousand, bright stars.

After a blissful night by the Pangong Lake, you'll travel back to the capital city of Leh. En route, you'll cross the high-altitude Chang-La Pass and take a pit stop outside the Lotus Valley School, featured in the popular Bollywood movie '3 Idiots'.

Today, you will cross the borders of jammu and Kashmir and enter the vibrant valleys of Himachal Pradesh. It'll be one of the most adventurous ride days as you cross through the third highest pass in the world, Tanglang La, that leads you to the gorgeous stretch along the Morey Plains. You will also cross the twin passes of Lachung La and Nakee La, and the iconic Gata Loops, a series of 21 consecutive hairpin bends on the Manali-Leh highway.

Cancellation policy

For cancellations made more than 60 days before departure of the Ladakh motorbiking trip: 100% refund.

For cancellations made 45-60 days before departure of the Ladakh motorbiking trip: 75% refund.

For cancellations made 30-44 days before departure of the Ladakh motorbiking trip: 50% refund.

For cancellations made 20-29 days before departure of the Ladakh motorbiking trip: 25% refund.

For cancellations made less than 20 days before departure of the Ladakh motorbiking trip: no refund.

In case of show: no refund.

All refunds will be processed after deducting an administration fee of INR 5,000 per person and a transaction fee of INR 200 per person. The administration fee is charged by the tour operator, the transaction fee is charged by The Great Next.

Rules on trip

The motorbike rider as well as the pillion rider is required to wear a helmet at all times while riding the motorbike. A safety helmet will be provided to all travellers by the tour operator.

Travellers are required to carry a valid, govt-issued photo ID card and a valid driver's licence.

Travellers are required to follow all instructions of the road captain during the Ladakh motorbiking trip.

Consumption of alcohol and drugs is strictly prohibited during the trip. Travellers suspected of intoxication will not be allowed to participate in the trip.

Travellers getting their own motorbike must ensure that the vehicle is registered to the rider's name and all the relevant documents (pollution check, insurance and driver's licence etc) are in order.

Additional instructions, booking policies, terms and conditions

Travellers will be required to pay a refundable, security deposit of INR 5,000 per motorbike. Any major damage or loss to the motorbike and use of any spare parts will be deducted from the security deposit. This deposit is payable directly to the tour operator and any disputes involving the deposit will be settled between the tour operator and the traveller.

Travellers are only allowed to store one rucksack of maximum 60 liters capacity in the support vehicle. Any extra luggage will be the responsibility of the traveller.

If any traveller wishes to exit the tour mid-way for any medical or personal reasons, an additional charge of transporting the motorbike from the leaving point to the end point will be applicable.

The tour operator reserves the right to alter or cancel the itinerary of this Ladakh motorbiking trip due to any unforeseen circumstances to ensure maximum safety of travellers and staff. Costs arising due to such a change in itinerary will be borne by the traveller.

Travellers are requested to treat the local culture with respect and avoid littering, defacing property and monuments and causing general disturbance.
