Go motorbiking on the national highways and mountain passes of Ladakh on a 9-day motorbiking tour. With powerful Royal Enfield motorbikes on hand, you'll roar through the Ladakhi range, with an entourage of like-minded motorbikers and an experienced support team. Surrounded by barren and arid hills as far as the eye can see, you'll travel to distant destinations in Ladakh, having new adventures and clicking picture-perfect photos.

You'll visit the multi-coloured lake of Pangong, travel to the sand dunes of Hunder and Sumur, ride through high-altitude passes of Khardung-La and Chang-La, visit the historic monasteries of Thiksey and Diskit, apart from a range of other exciting adventures.

The Ladakhi terrain, flanked by the towering mountains of the Trans-Himalayan range, with snow-capped summits rising far beyond the clouds, is home to one of the most iconic motorbiking routes in the country. With scenic views of the landscape, painted in differing shades of grey and brown, you'll explore faraway villages and secluded landmarks in the region on a 9-day motorbiking itinerary.

Your adventure begins in the state capital of Srinagar. As you travel east to Ladakh, you'll visit the historic city of Kargil before arriving at Leh. After exploring Leh and the sand dunes of the Nubra Valley, you'll spend a night by the famous Pangong Lake and return to Leh, ending the tour with unforgettable experiences.

Arrive in Srinagar and convene at a pre-determined meeting point. In the afternoon, you'll meet your fellow motorbikers and your road captain for a brief orientation session to discuss the climate conditions, itinerary and other details of your upcoming motorbiking adventure. Leaving behind the scant greenery of Srinagar, you'll flag off your Ladakh motorbiking trip by heading east on the Srinagar-Leh highway. On the horizon, you'll begin seeing some of Ladakh's characteristic barren and brown mountains. En route to today's destination of Kargil, you'll ride through the tricky turns of the Zojila Pass and cross the village of Drass, the second-coldest inhabited village in the world. You'll also halt to visit the Kargil War memorial, dedicated to the soldiers of the 1999 Indo-Pak war. Overnight in a hotel at Kargil.

Continuing forward from Kargil, you'll keep riding east to reach the town of Leh, the capital city and the largest city of Ladakh. En route, you'll stop at the Sangam point, where the two rivers of Zanskar and Indus meet, and visit the Pathar Sahib Gurudwara, an important Sikh house of worship. You'll also visit the Hall of Fame, a museum dedicated to the Indian Army. Overnight in a hotel at Leh.

Today, you can also head out to explore local attractions near Leh, such as the Shanti Stupa, the Leh Palace and the Thiksey Monastery. Take on the challenge of motorbiking over the world's highest mountain pass, the Khardung-La, at an altitude of over 17,000 feet on today's journey to Hunder. Located in the Nubra Valley, Hunder is famous for sprawling sand dunes and the Bactrian double-humped camels. Enjoy a scenic evening at Hunder or visit the nearby Diskit Monastery. Overnight in Swiss tents or a hotel at Hunder.

Ride deeper into Nubra Valley and travel from Hunder to Turtuk, a scenic village surrounded by sprawling apple orchards and apricot farms. Spend some time admiring unique views of the landscape from Turtuk. You'll turn around and resume motorbiking and travel to Sumur, a quiet and lesser known village besides the Nubra River. Overnight in Swiss tents or a hotel at Sumur.

If you wake up early, before dawn, you can take a short ride from Sumur and visit the hot springs of Panamik. Otherwise, you'll proceed to the Pangong Lake, travelling over an off-beat, rocky and rough route that will test your skills of motorbiking. You'll ride besides the Shyok River, taking in scenic views of the craggy mountains. At Pangong Lake, you can spend some time by the lake and enjoy the star-studded night sky. In the morning, spend some time on the banks of the Pangong Lake and visit the area featured in the popular Bollywood movie '3 Idiots'. On the last day of your motorbiking adventure, you'll travel back from Pangong to Leh, crossing the high-altitude Chang-La Pass that is often layered with thick snow all over. For cancellation of the trip made by the tour operator due to any unforeseen circumstances: 100% refund.

Rules on trip

The motorbike rider as well as the pillion rider is required to wear a helmet at all times while riding the motorbike. A safety helmet will be provided to the travellers by the tour operator.

Travellers are required to carry a valid, govt-issued photo ID card and a valid driver's licence.

Travellers are required to follow all instructions of the road captain during the Ladakh motorbiking trip.

Consumption of alcohol and drugs is strictly prohibited during the trip. Travellers suspected of intoxication will not be allowed to participate in the trip.

Travellers getting their own motorbike must ensure that the vehicle is registered to the rider's name and all the relevant documents (pollution check, insurance and driver's licence etc) are in order.

Additional instructions, booking policies, terms and conditions

Travellers will be required to pay a refundable, security deposit of INR 10,000 per motorbike. Any major damage or loss to the motorbike and use of any spare parts will be deducted from the security deposit. This deposit is payable directly to the tour operator and any disputes involving the deposit will be settled between the tour operator and the traveller.

Travellers are only allowed to store one rucksack in the support vehicle. Any extra luggage will be charged extra if stored in the support vehicle.

If any traveller wishes to exit the tour mid-way for any medical or personal reasons, an additional charge of transporting the motorbike from the leaving point to the end point will be applicable.

The tour operator reserves the right to alter or cancel the itinerary of this Ladakh motorbiking trip due to any unforeseen circumstances to ensure maximum safety of travellers and staff. Costs arising due to such a change in itinerary will be borne by the traveller.

Travellers are requested to treat the local culture with respect and avoid littering, defacing property and monuments and causing general disturbance.
