    Lohagad and Visapur Trek (ex-Pune)

    This one day trek takes you to the sister forts of Visapur and Lohagad, and lets you explore the historic ruins there. It is a fairly easy trek, suitable for absolute beginners and is a great choice for those looking for a quick getaway from the city life. Along with the ancient forts, you'll also get to experience the brilliant greenery of the Sahyadris during the monsoon season. From the top, you'll also be greeted to the magnificent views of Pawna reservoir, Tikona Fort, and Tung Fort. You'll also get to explore caves, broken cannons, ancient carving, and several water cisterns at the forts.

    Destination

    Located close to Pune, Visapur and Lohagad forts offer a great experience of trekking in the Western Ghats without much challenge as the trails are well marked, and easy to navigate. The best time to trek to these two forts is during the monsoon season when the trail is surrounded by lush greenery with mossy boulders dotting the trail and small streams draining from the top, and the green hills that contrast dramatically with the grey skies - making the experience truly breathtaking.

    Lohagad and Visapur Trek (ex-Pune) Photos

    You'll meet your fellow travellers and the trek leader at the Shivajinagar Railway Station at 06:30, and board the train to the base village. From the base village, you'll begin your trek to Visapur Fort which will take a couple of hours. From there, you'll trek to Lohagad fort. After exploring the fort, you'll descend back to the base village and board the train back to Pune. You'll reach Pune by 21:00 hrs. Your trip ends here.

    Today's meal package includes breakfast and lunch. Breakfast will be served to you at the base village before you begin your trek, and lunch will be served to you at Visapur before you begin your trek to Lohagad.

    Cancellation policy

    If trek gets cancelled due to Police restrictions/any other unforeseen circumstances/natural calamity 40% of the amount will be refunded. Our trek leaders will try conducting some other nearby trek and make your weekend happy. 

    For cancellations made more than 12 hrs before the Visapur and Lohagad trek: 70% refund.

    For cancellations made less than 12 hrs before the Visapur and Lohagad trek: No refund.

    In case of no show: No refund.

    All refunds will be processed after deducting a transaction fee of INR 200 per person. This fee is charged by The Great Next.

    Rules on trip

    Travellers are required to adhere to the instructions of the trek leader during the trek to Visapur and Lohagad.

    Travellers are requested to treat the local culture with respect and avoid littering, defacing property and monuments, and causing general disturbance.

    Consumption of liquor, drugs, tobacco products and cigarettes is strictly prohibited during the trek to Visapur and Lohagad.

    Additional instructions, booking policies, terms and conditions

    Travellers will be required to bear any additional costs arising due to unforeseen circumstances such as bad weather, road blocks etc.

    The tour operator takes utmost care to ensure safety of the travellers and shall not be held responsible for any mishap or accident during the trek to Visapur and Lohagad.
