The Bhutan motorbiking trip is an enriching 10-day motorcycling journey that takes you across the rugged hilly terrains of Bhutan as you travel though riveting landscapes, and explore the Buddhist culture and catch stunning mountain views.

The perfect adventure for adrenaline junkies, this trip is full of spectacular delights. From riding along the Teesta River to meandering through tea gardens, you’ll get to stop by many tiny villages, pay a visit to numerous Dzongs, drive over Bhutan’s highest motorable road: Chele La and trek up to the famous Tiger’s Nest Monastery! And on your rest day you’ll get to explore around the cultural city of Thimphu whilst interacting with the locals. Moreover, as your journey progresses, you'll even witness the scenic beauty of the gorgeous Paro Valley.

Not for the faint-hearted, this adventure requires stamina and determination – but for those who love adventure, it is also highly rewarding.

Known as a ‘Buddhist Kingdom’ within the Himalayas, Bhutan lies on the eastern edge and comprises of a rich Buddhist culture. It is also popular for its dramatic landscapes. From high mountain valleys, to stark vegetation, this region is known for its varying topography.

For this adventure, you’ll begin your journey from Bagdogra from where you’ll ride across many destinations over 10 days. These destinations consist of Darjeeling, Gangtok, Phentsholing, Thimphu, Punakha, the Paro Valley and Siliguri where you’ll conclude your trip. Along the way, you’ll even drive along iconic sites such as the Teesta River, the villages of Gedu and Chukka, the Dochu La, the Chele La and the Tiger’s nest Monastery.

Arrive in Bagdogra today by 10:00 hrs, where in you'll be received from the airport. After meeting the tour leader and support staff, gear up and enjoy your first motorcycling experience towards Darjeeling. The journey begins by 13:00 hrs and ends by evening once you reach Darjeeling. You'll check into a deluxe homestay and spend the evening relaxing by a bonfire. At night enjoy some dinner before retiring into your room for sleep.

You'll arrive in Bagdogra early today. All riders have to arrive before 11:00 hrs. After a pick-up from the airport, you'll then make your way towards Darjeeling. You'll spend the night in Darjeeling in deluxe double sharing homestay. Today's meal package includes dinner which will be served at the hotel.

Wake up early today and post breakfast, gear up to ride towards Gangtok. It will be a gorgeous journey as you ride along the beautiful Teesta River and reach Gangtok by afternoon. You can spend the rest of the day exploring around the town. At night, check into a comfortable hotel for dinner and sleep.

Wake up early and feast on an heavy breakfast. A long day ahead of you, today you'll make your way towards Phuentsholing, as you mark your entry into Bhutan. A beautiful journey, you'll meander your way through tea garden and gorgeous sceneries. Reach Phuentsholing by evening and check into a hotel for dinner and sleep.

Today's journey takes you to Thimphu. Thus, wake up early, feast on a heavy breakfast and begin your ride. En route, you'll cross the beautiful town of Gedu and Chukka. You'll reach Thimphu by evening where you'll check into a hotel for rest. Later in the evening embark on a short tour of this destination. At night return to the hotel for dinner and sleep.

A rest day from mototrcycling, today, you'll spend the day exploring the glorious city of Thimphu. Starting with the Budha Statue and the Thimpu Dzong, you'll also get to visit the handicraft market and the Memorial Chorten. You can spend the evening exploring around local cafes and joints. At night return to your hotel for a hot dinner and good night's rest.

Today's meal package includes veg breakfast and dinner. After spending the whole day exploring the beautiful city of Thimphu you'll return to your deluxe hotel for the night.

Wake up early and gear up for a beautiful journey to Punakha. Post breakfast, you'll start out by driving towards the Dochu La Pass which takes you across the majestic landscape of Bhutan. After this, you'll have a lunch break followed by a visit to the Punakha Dzong. Late in the evening you'll check into a hotel for night of dinner and rest.

Today's journey takes you across the serene Paro Valley. Post breakfast, freshen up and drive towards the highest motorable road of Bhutan: Chele La. On this ride, you'll catch brilliant views of Bhutan. Reach Paro by evening and visit the Paro Dzong and museum. At night check into a hotel for dinner and rest.

A beautiful day ahead, wake up early, feast on a heavy breakfast and make your way towards the Tigers Nest Monastery. This journey will first comprise of a drive through paddy fields followed by a 5 km trek. After viewing the monastery, by afternoon return to your hotel in Paro. In the evening explore around Paro and at night return to your hotel for dinner and rest.

Today, you'll leave for Puentsholing after breakfast. You'll reach by noon where in you can enjoy a lunch break. Post lunch, you'll continue your journey towards Siliguri. Cancellation policy

For cancellations made before the departure of the Bhutan motorbiking trip: the booking deposit of INR 5000 is non refundable.

All cancellations/refunds on this trip will be processed after a deduction of INR 200 per person. This fee is charged by The Great Next and is applicable for all cancellations.

Rules on trip

The motorbike rider as well as the pillion rider are required to wear a helmet at all times while riding the Bhutan bike trip. A safety helmet will be provided to the travellers by the tour operator. 

Travellers are required to follow all instructions of the road captain at all times during the Bhutan motorbiking trip. 

Consumption of alcohol and drugs is strictly prohibited during the Bhutan motorbiking trip. Travellers suspected of intoxication will not be allowed to participate in the trip.

Travellers getting their own motorbike must ensure that the vehicle is registered to the rider's name and all the relevant documents (pollution check, insurance and driver's licence, etc.) are in order.

Travellers are requested to treat the local culture with respect and avoid littering, defacing property and monuments and causing general disturbance.

Additional instructions, booking policies, terms and conditions

The cost for one rider plus one pillion on one motorbike is INR 47250 per person.

If the traveller brings thier own bike, then the cost for the trip is INR 36750 per person.

The cost for a seat in the support vehicle is INR 36750 per person.

It is mandatory to reach the Bagdogra Aiport before 11:00 hrs on Day 1 of the Bhutan motorbiking trip for an airport pick-up as the bike journey begins at 13:00 hrs. Missing pick-up would entail missing the trip.

Travellers are required to carry a valid, govt-issued photo ID card and a valid driver's licence for the Bhutan bike trip.

For any physical damages to the bike during the Bhutan bike ride, the travellers have to incur the expenses.

If any traveler wishes to exit the Bhutan motorbiking trip mid-way for any medical or personal reasons, an additional charge of transporting the motorbike from the leaving point to the end point will be applicable at INR 10000 per bike.

The tour operator reserves the right to alter or cancel the itinerary of the Bhutan motorbiking trip due to any unforeseen circumstances to ensure maximum safety of travellers and staff. Costs arising due to such a change in itinerary will be borne by the traveller.
