Nagtibba Trek (1N/2D)

For those looking for a quick Himalayan escape, this 1 night itinerary on the Nagtibba route is a fantastic option. It takes you to the top of a ridge peak in the Nag Tibba range of the lower Himalayas, in just a day trek. You'll pass charming villages, terraced fields, and flowering trees en route to your campsite. You'll catch a beautiful sunset over the hills, and at night, you'll camp in comfortable tents with the sounds of nature outside. In the morning, you'll see gorgeous views of the peaks and of Mussoorie in the distance. On this route, you visit the Nag Devta temple on Day 2 before beginning your descent. You can expect to be back in Dehradun by 21:00 or 22:00 hrs.

IMPORTANT: This is not a fixed departure trip and requires a minimum of 4 persons to book.

Destination

Located in the foothills of the Garhwal Himalayas, the Nagtibba trek gives you a pleasant mountain experience, with terraced fields and green meadows, and beautiful flora and fauna all around. During the trek, you'll meet friendly locals like shepherds, farmers, and women working in the fields. At your campsite, you'll find that the ground is covered with wild mint, which the cook will pluck to make a deliciously refreshing cup of tea. It's a complete outdoors experience, with basic comforts like tents, sleeping bags, toilet tents, all led by a friendly team of guides and porters.

You'll have an early start from Dehradun so that you can get to the start point on time. Do ensure that you are waiting at Dehradun Railway Station or Bus Stand by 06:30 hrs. You'll be picked up and driven through the scenic settings of Mussoorie, towards Pantwari village. This drive takes about 3 hours. At Pantwari, you begin your trek upwards to the campsite. The route rises gently, and is covered with terraced farms, conifer trees, and glimpses into the local life, and then beyond into wild territory. You'll reach the campsite in time to watch the sunset and enjoy a peaceful night out in the mountains.

Overnight in tents at Nagtibba.

Travel from Dehradun to Pantwari and trek from Pantwari to Nagtibba. You'll be accommodated in tents at Nagtibba on a twin-sharing basis. You'll be given a comfortable sleeping bag and mattresses for a restful night's sleep. Today's meal package includes lunch, evening snacks, and dinner. All meals will be vegetarian and served in a buffet setting.

Enjoy a hearty breakfast and begin the climb towards the peak of Nagtibba. En route lies the Nag Devta temple. The temple is not well-maintained, but the locals are devoted to the deity here. You'll climb from here to the Nagtibba ridge, where you'll have time for some rest and exploring. You begin your descent back, stopping at the campsite for lunch before descending to Pantwari. The descent from the campsite to the village is short and easy, and you'll be clambering into your vehicles by evening. You'll be driven back to Dehradun and dropped off by 21:00 hrs or 22:00 hrs. Trip ends here.

Trek from Nagtibba to Pantwari. Travel from Pantwari to Dehradun in a private, shared vehicle. Throughout the trek, you'll be accompanied by an experienced trek leader and a support staff of cooks, porters and helpers. Today's meal package includes breakfast and lunch.

Cancellation policy

For cancellations made 0-15 days before the start of the Nagtibba trek: No refund. | For cancellations made 15-30 days before the start of the Nagtibba trek: 50% of the trek cost will be refunded. | For cancellations made 30 days or more before the start of the Nagtibba trek: Full refund minus any costs for booking already made by Himalaya Shelter. | No show: No refund. | No refunds will be made for any inclusions unused by the customer.

Rules on trip

Participants must handle the equipment provided to them with care.

The trip leader's decision is final.

Participants must respect local culture and should not litter or deface natural structures/monuments.

Participants opting for additional service of mules must note that weight of 1 bag should not be more than 12 kgs

Rent for trekking shoes is Rs. 200 per trekking day. The charges once rented will be applicable irrespective of whether the shoes are worn or not during the trek.

Rent for a walking stick is Rs. 50 per trekking day. The charges once rented are applicable irrespective if the stick is used or not.
